Second hand sig, picked it up for pretty cheap since the previous owner couldn't get it to cycle, AT ALL. Well research and the local gunshop bobble-heads told me that the break in period is huge for these things. Something stupid like 2000 rounds of mini mags before it could eat anything else. 700 mini mags and it was eventually starting to eat cci standards but not anything else.

Progress right?

Well today I had some spare time and thought I would give the pistols some extra love with a complete wipe down, but before I got into anything, noticed immediately after removing the slide from the Sig that the rear rails were BOTH cracked around 1" down the rail right from the back (poor iphone pictures shall illustrate):mad::mad::mad::mad:

SO what can I do? I doubt there is any way to salvage the actual slide, if there is I am All ears. Is there any way that I could some how just get a new bare slide and swap the hardware? Anyone know what that would cost? Or who I could even get that slide from? Other than learning German and making an expensive call across the ocean?

IMO you have to contact SIG in US with serial number and detailed slide pics... and see if they can solve your problem or better contact the dealer were the previous owner bought it and check who is covering SIG Mosquito warranty in Canada.
good luck!

Will SIG even warranty those? I just assumed that the standard approach was to say, "Sorry, you bought a Mosquito."

He can only hope they will (but I doubt it). If it was me I would just cut my losses on the pot-metal POS and buy a Ruger MKII. Not what the man wants to hear I'm sure, but the truth hurts sometimes...

I was sad to see Sig put thier name on this gun, it has done and will do nothing for thier reputation. They are now marketing the very good GSG 1911 .22 under the Sig name, same GSG but mark and set up with Sig tag lines.

Sorry about your .22, I thought they were junk when I first layed eyes on them but I had hopes due to the Sig name.

2000 mini mags! no way. I never ran any through mine, and it eats the crappiest remington ammo I can throw at it. Wonder if you had the heavy spring installed.

Not sure sig will warranty it. Hopefully, but sig themselves dont actually manufacture them. Really crappy either way.

Oh god I just bought one of those thinking it was a good pistol Is this going to die on me? Wtf.

dude, just go shoot it. Dont worry about it breaking before you even had it at the range.

there were crappy ones made in the past with lots of complaints, new ones like yours will likely be just fine

ahhhhhhhhhhhh!! i got one too! got it like 2 years ago,,put like 30 rounds through it,,it jammed a bit, i thought it was normal for 22lr..(im not at all a 22 guy)should i sell it for a cz cadet or the obvious ruger mk2,, :(

The old lady is getting one,now im scared before we even get it. To the op how was the pistol before it broke??

Honestly it wouldnt cycle worth a damn without minimags, people on the INTERNET say theirs is fine, everyone ive ever actually spoken to says theyre cursed. Our local gunshop told me they just flat out stopped carrying them becuase they couldnt sell one without an issue sO they picked up on just selling sig 226 .22LRs.

IMHO, i thought it would be great.. But there are many quality alternatives for a fun semi .22 ...FOR LESS MONEY!
