Current Ontario transfer times?

Last restricted purchase I made, I called the cfc with reference number. After confirming transfer asked to be directed to provincial cfo. Completed transfer with one phone call, took less than five minutes.

Called yesterday about a transfer I started last Friday (I'm in BC...the buyer in Ont.)...was told 2 weeks...yikes. The other transfers I did (not to Ont.) were done within 2 days. All were restricted.

Still waiting in Alberta???? Started Feb. 10, it is now Feb 25. No papers yet. Tax dollars hard at work? Miss the good old days when I could do a transfer over a lunch hour.

Waiting on transfer to me. Called after one week and CFC lady told me my prov. CFO had signed off on transfer and papers went for federal reg. in Ontario. Who then mails my cert. to me. Purchase is from local (same city) friend.

Two Thursdays back I bought a 1911 from a fellow in the EE and EMT'd him the money. Friday AM he PM'd me the reference number and I called it in to complete the transfer. I then called the Ontario CFO and politely asked the very nice lady to approve the transfer. Her computer was slow so it took about two minutes. I then PM'd the seller to tell him the transfer was complete and he called for an ATT and had the tracking number from the post office that afternoon. The pistol arrived at my door on monday, the family day holiday.

Fax you local CFO about the status of your transfer. That seems to work for some reason. I've tried it twice and both times my transfers were magically approved within 1 hour of sending the fax.

Sometimes bringing attention to your situation helps the paperwork rise to the top of the pile.

P.S. Kill them with kindness. Your fax should praise their efforts ie. I know your busy but..., you must have a lot of other applicants but..., thanks for your time and consideration etc.

Transfer time

I just requested a restricted transfer from Onatrio to Nova Scotia on Wednesday. The transfer was approved and the buyer received the transfer approval by mail yesterday!!! That has to be some kind of record!!

I purchased a restricted from an Ontario (GTA) Dealer Saturday afternoon. Received a call from the Dealer Monday after lunch that all the paper work was completed and I could pick it up.
Hope all my future restricted transactions are this painless....

Dealer/retailer transfers usually are, especially when they use the web app. I sold a pistol to a dealer on CGN just the other day. He initiated the transfer and within 2 hours it was completed. If it takes any longer it's because the staff is lazy, busy, or you are a first time pistol buyer.

Anyone else notice the Ontario CFTPO is getting really bad again lately? been waiting over 10 days on a couple private transfers right now. The Ontario CFTPO is also impossible to get a hold of as usual. Looks like I'm gonna be talking to ombudsman again, and they don't even have to worry about non-restricted anymore...

Same here, took 14 days for a private transfer...

I really do not understand what the wait is for. There is no reason whatsoever other than letting the paperwork sit on the tray.

I pretty much agree on the process of obtaining a licence, courses, red tape and all, but when it comes to just buying a freaking gun all logic goes out the window.

was told 5-10 days on mar 28, now 14 days later it is finally approved, seriously they just have a wait time to piss everyone off

another guy who Im waiting on a transfer with said his Alberta transfer took 3 hours!
