Hey guys,

Can anybody suggest me a cheap(ish) route to go for optics on a heavy hitting rifle? Something like .30-06 or 300 win mag.

Thanks

Redfield revolution 4-12x40, they are made by Leupold and are a great scope for the money.I like it better than my Burris fullfield II 3-9x40 or the Bushnell 3200 elite 3-9x40 I own.

well what do you consider "budget"?

150$, 300$, 500$, 1000$?

I like bushnell elite 3200 3-9 40.... for budget... then 4200 if you can pay a bit more.

I had a bushnell elite 4200 2.5-10x40 on my 300 win mag. paid 300$ special at le baron. Was 100% fine and accurate for over 600 rounds.

Mueller APV 4.5-14X40mm, that's as budget as I would go. It is a nice scope for the money... I have one on a .223, .243, .308... the optics are bright, clear and hold POI... and it has buffered optics to support heavy recoil. For $140 or so, you can't go wrong.

Just make sure you get low mag for moose as most of that hunting is in the bush, and I think 4.5 on the low end is way to high for a bush gun. I would always give up some power on the top for a large FOV, in the bush. Just an opinion, moose gun 2-8, 2.5-10.
I have a nikon 2.5x10 and it is low price, very bright, and tough. Maybe also check minox
if they are in the price range.

Water proof, Fog proof as well...nothing worse than your breath fogging up your cheap scope on a cool mornig when the moose are moving.

RT has a point there. With all considered, low price, rain and fog resistent, toughness. Bushnell has it. It is hard to beat that rain gaurd.

Leupold VX11 3-9x 40. $300 or less if you shop hard.

X2 on this one. I have had one mounted on my Remington 700 BDL in .300WM for over 15 years. After sight it in the first time I have never had to touch the turrets. Year after year same zero.
