I have a dalema. I'm set that i want a .40cal and have decided between the glock 22 in 40sw a sig p226 in 40sw or a para ordnance 1911 in 45 acp. I'm looking for reliability, accuracy, and value. I'm leaning towards the glock but have been hearing mixed reviews about this glock in 40 caliber. I Like having a hammer on the gun as long as it fires both single and double action. The Para is a nice gun but a little more expensive. I want to get involved with my local IDPA shoots so i really want good accuracy. Any views would be appreciated.

Glock or Sig in .40 S&W [get the one that fits you best]. In my case I have a G22 [been shooting Glocks for years]. Sig is a great pistol just not for me. It's a personal choice.

As for 1911's..... been into owning/shooting them for ~ 30 + years now. The Para would be the absolute last on my list if I was looking for one.

My .02 only.

Hello Bigred613, go with whatever floats your boat. Lots of people love the Glock, as you know. I personally am bias towards the P226 in .40S&W. The .45 ACP ammo is way more expensive.

Value and reliability are synonymous with glock. I have a g22 and it's flawless.

If your referring to unsupported chambers in g22s all new guns have much better support than the ones from the 90s so should t be an issue if you buy a new one. It's also not an issue if you use factory ammo and if you reload there is no reason to load past 125pf, which again isn't an issue.

40SW get a Gen 4 G22 for $600.

can't beat it for the price! if you don;t like it i'm sure you can sell it for little or no lost.

I use a Norinco SIG clone for IDPA, and it has never jammed with jacketed ammo. Yeah, I know, Its chinese, but its only $400 and Its accurate enough to zero a couple rounds each match.

Glock or Sig. Whichever fits your hand the best.

Glock is considered ugly to many but almost never fails, they are fairly accurate, and are relatively cheap.
Sig are very nice and are reliable and accurate but a little more expensive.
Para don't have a very good reputation and are a little pricey. If you get one that works well they are good accurate 1911's but there are probably better deals to be had on 1911's. I would look into STI for a good bang for the buck 1911.

Good luck whichever path you take.

Glocks take abit of time get use too "so if you get one, take the time to learn the trigger"

SIGs are pretty easy for most shooters to learn on and a great gun too

SIG does have the slight edge on accuracy "but not by that much"

I have a Sig and a Glock, much prefer the Glock, 0 issues with it. Also have had a few Para's 2 out of the 3 have had issues, no more Para's for me.

:p

I think I spent more time typing emails to North Sylva and Para then I did shooting that piece of sh!t...

That's funny. The other day I was in a shop with some perfectly good SIGs in the case & the kid behind the counter was selling this guy a Para 1911.

I was thinking about your posts & biting my lip so hard I thought I was going to bleed.
