Thanks for looking,
Trevor

Looks like the barrel finish is different from the frame.

Thats how I ended up with a Ruger GP100. I went to look at the 686 cause the finish was supposed to be so much nicer. First thing I've noticed was the tone difference between the barrel and the frame. It looked wrong.

I bought a 4.25 686 and with a trigger job its double action is much better.I did not like the way the weight stacked on the stock trigger but now its an even smoth pull

Looks just like mine... They are beautiful aren't they!... Did my own trigger job and got it to 7 lbs smooth DA and breaks nicely (Thanks to Bang Inc spring kit and DVD)... Just have to chamfer the chambers before i start shooting in competition.. just dont want to spend $100 bucks from Brownells for a one time use tool.. :(

Enjoy it.. 38 sp is so easy to reload for.. Wow

The barrel has a different "hue/tone" than the frame on mine.
Had a trigger job done my a smith. Everyone who fires it loves the trigger pull.
My 15 year old's favorite gun now - something to do with shooting steel targets (single action) at 200 yards and actually hitting 1 or 2 out of 6 rounds.
Starting to talk about the chance of him eventually owning it when he is old enough .......

two be clear ive owned two 686 4.2 inch barrel revolvers. First one i sold, thats the one with the targets, then i regretted selling it so bought another, thats the one with the new grips.
