We are setting up for the up coming geese season (its far but we are exited) I am just wondering if its okay to leave geese decoys out the whole time (as in near the opening geese season) for a length of time. Should you move them around every so often? Just curious, thought someone might know here, we are hunting out of a good sized pond.

So your plan is to leave them out in the field and go move them around few times a day before the season start?

What are you trying to accomplish?

no they will be in my pond at the start of the season and just leave them out there for the duration. I could bring them in every time but if I don't have to then I won't, move them occasionally of course

here are pics of the pond

Geese aren't that stupid.....

If the decoys are there every day they get used to them and ignore them. The only people who leave their decoys out around here bait illegally and put the decoys out as a distraction.

Bring them in. When we hunt in a spot for a few weeks in a row, we'll bag our decoys and put them under a camo burlap in the bush (private land).
Never would I dream of leaving my decoys unattended on public land!

I agree with moving the decoys... you are going to want to scout around for areas that the birds are currently using anyway... six decoys are enough if you are where the geese WANT to be... six hundred are NOT enough if you are where they DON'T want to be!

Our pond is private and on our property and we have had to kick out trespassers, thanks for the info all we will just throw them out every time we go out.

That right there is the words of a successful and experienced goose hunter!

Unless you are running traffic. Any monkey can scout a field :p

Running Traffic is not something I would recommend for the new goose hunter.
