Finally had a chance to install a rail on my "new to me" S&W 629 Mountain Gun. Had a order in with Brownells and they sent me a Ruger rail with a S&W tag. They were great at getting me a new one sent out and after a short delay, It's range time.

Anyone who knows me will say that handguns are not my best choice:p. Figured a dot sight would help with this and I do think I am on the right track. Going to have to get a 22lr with a dot now! Way better than holes all over a 8x11 sheet of paper!

Anyhow, a few pics of my "new" toy and my best of the day- .828" at 25 yards:D

and one to keep me humble at 1.5":bangHead:

If you can't hit anything with the sights on your pistol it's time to get a rifle!

You know I would agree with this! We took first place at the last pin match with my AR15 so I just need a little help with the 100+ yard shots with the pistols (Winter Match). I agree with trebor2880 that a shorter rail would clean up the look a bit. The dot makes it way easier for me to hit something with the 44 mag:D I like it when I can hit something!

My "Mountain Gun" does not say "Mountain Gun" on the Barrel...I chose to put a fibre optic sight on the front of mine...did you change the grips on this gun? Your's look like Hogue's...mine came with Pachmayer's...Nice looking gun...mine shoots awesome!

That's one of my grail guns and you put a rail on it???!!!! Whatever squeezes your lemon - my eyes are getting to the point now where I'm going to have to move to an RDS shortly in order to hit anything.

Take it to a machinist and have him mill some length off of that so it fits flush with the front of the frame....

Really nice gun. Good shooting. Indicates the accuracy potential of short barreled handguns at distance.

Personally, I'm not a fan of optics on handguns either, though.

Nice gun and nice shooting. I like revolvers.Looks like it would be good for bear defence. Had to throw that in there before anyone ese did.

I'm not a fan of the govt telling me I can't own one of those...
I want one of those badly :(

I have 12(6), and I think the law stinks!!! It's absolutely ridiculous that it should be this way....I'm in the same boat as you when it comes to 12.5's and the others.
