Shorten PAL Approval Times

My Ontario Timeline:

April 7th, took class and passed exam.
April 10th I assume the test results were sent to the Ontario CFO.
May 1st sent in my app registered mail
May 3rd shows up in NB
May 21 Application shows up online, saying missing info (exam results)
May 21 results come back and are faxed to NB status changed to
"Current Status: Your application has completed initial processing. It is now in progress. Please check the status again at a later date."
May 25 my credit Card is charged.

So looks like my 28 days are almost up and I hope to have the licence is a week or two!

I highly recommend sending in your application ahead of your results if you live in Ontario.

As of June 1st the website says my licence has been issued! It was 29 days for me to get through the process. I did send my app ahead of time and faxed test results in later. I also called about an hour after I faxed it and everything worked out smoothly. I called 3 or 4 times just to check on things as well. So hopefully this weekend I will be going to pick up a SKS and a crate of ammo!.... and many other costly things!

Wow. That is very fast. My interviews were done as well on 25-May, CFO's hands on 29-May. We're now 04-June, they're telling it can take 45 days.

Does anyone know the CFO # in Ontario, they only list a fax # on the website? I'd like to call CFO, perhaps they just need to press a button on the touch screen. LOL

UPDATE: Found it myself. Called, they put me through to someone else to check, got VM, left personal information (as requested), and phone #, asked if they needed anything else to complete processing.

My PAL status

I wasn't going to post but due to my quick approval i thought i would share.

Here is my timeline.
April 28 - passed my CFSC
May 2 - Sent Application away (regular canada post mail)
May 7 - Application received (Found this out went it appeared online)
May 25 - application appeared online.
May 28 - credit card charged.
June 4 - Checked status online and license has been issued.

I dont have the card yet but hopefully soon.

I live in BC
My instructor told me to use someone else that has a PAL as a reference and that should speed things up.
Also i never even called them , my app just seemed to flow through the system without issues.

Hopefully this helps someone.

Let the Bells ring out and the birdies sing

HoooWaaaw, Let the bells ring out and the birdies sing! :D:D:D
This was posted today May 16. "Your application has been processed and your licence has been issued. If you have not received your licence within 2 weeks please contact the Canada Firearms Centre"

So start to finish it's taken 5 months from the time I challenged the NR exam.

Well I got a nice birthday present from the CFO here in Ontario my NRPAL arrived on May 25. Application was submitted on Mar. 5 So 9 to 10 weeks from application receipt to receipt of PAL Card in Ontario. All in all with CFSC training course etc just under 6 months!!!!

Passed CFSC/R: 26-Feb-12
Transcripts Received: approx. 12-Apr-12
Application Sent: 21-Apr-12
Application Received: 25-Apr-12
Completed initial processing: approx. 18-May-12
Interviews completed: 25-May-12
Application submitted to CFO: 29-May-12
Called CFO: 04-June-12 (left message)
CFO returned call / Approved: 05-June-12

UPDATE: Received 18-June-12

This is exactly the (28) day cooling period to have RPAL issued after receiving the transcripts and sending the application. Probably, would have gotten it sooner if I knew how to get my transcripts returned in (3) days like some people seemed to have been able to accomplish.

67 days as of today from when they received my app.
Called again this morning (last time was 2 weeks ago).
It's been so long that the lady at CFP transferred me to the BC CFO right away.
Waited on hold for a long time.
Finally got through to someone, gave them my info, they said hold while they go look it up.
Instead of hold they hung up or random disconnect. :(
Tried calling back multiple times and now can't get through (goes to voice mail after a long wait time).
Finally left the information on the voice mail after repeated calls.
I doubt I'll get a call-back.
I guess they are trying to discourage people from even trying to get their license?

From where?

DeeGee try calling early morning, maybe you can beat the flood of calls going in.

I and my two references were called/called in today.
I'm not sure if the correct answer to why did you apply for a non-restricted and restricted was 'so I can pop mo-fos for talking shiznit and trying to hold a rifle sideways during a drive-by isn't gangsta' was wise but meh live and learn right?

Grab yo glock. I hope you send in a picture of Dirt McGirt with that application. Speaking of which, I would pay money to see/hear Dirt's application.

Got my PAL in hand last night. Application received at Mirimichi on April 10th. I did only call them three times, so I'm satisfied with the timeline.

I am surprised and have to apologize for my doubts.
The BC CFO did call me back later in the day (6 hours later).
I wasn't home, they didn't leave any message, but when I checked online my license is now on its way. :)

I'm only going to use my PAL once though to purchase one single box of .22LR shells, nothing else... ever... OPSEC... :ninja:
