I see quad rails everywhere, but am not that excited about adding more weight to an already nose-heavy setup. Where can I find a non-railed free float handguard for my Norc M4? I have seen what I want being used by 3 gun competitors, but have no idea where to find it for sale.

Thanks,
Mark

JP Enterprises VTac free float handguard, comes in rifle/midlength/carbine and can fit additional rails as you see fit. Available in Black, FDE, OD, and titanium grey. This comes stock as a bare handguard and could potentially have more real estate on it than a typical quad rail with all ot eh additional rail locations.

ATRS stocks them, I'm sure other supporting dealers do as well but ATRS is right off the top of my head.

Can be used to make monolithic top rail;

Hope that helps.

Precision Reflex Inc. (PRI) makes some nice carbon free float forearms.

Be careful what you wish for, some of these weigh more than some of the lighter railed forearms.

Clark carbon fiber free float tube is probably the lightest tube out there.

Troy Industries Alpha/Bravo battle rails come to mind... FYI they're replacing all their TRX rails with the newer Alpha and/or Bravo rails, so maybe you can find some on sale

I hear ya man. I love the look of stock guns, but free floating a carbine would be nice. Personally, I've looked and looked and the only stock handguard looking free float kits I can find are for 20" barrels. If you do find something that looks like a stock carbine handguard, let me know!

I have a Samson evo on its way to me grubby hands now...They are sweet.
JP are good but a bit heavy IMO (I have 2 of these now)
Trox TRX extreme awsome tube (I have one of these)

Check out Christiansan Arms @ $400.ish
Lancer makes a real nice tube as well (similar to PRI)
Midwest has released @ 2months ago a tube that looks to be a cross between JP and Troy. MI stuff is good but typically beefy(weight wise)

I think its made by like... rock river or something. Just go to AR parts.

Found it, thanks. That is exactly what I want (good price, too), too bad it is a special order 8-12 week delivery item. I would like to try it before fall of this year. Maybe I will email them for a more precise delivery estimate.

Very nice. Supplier? Cost?

I want a rifle length one to cover the gas block and extend out to near the flash hider. I am putting an optic on and maybe some MBUS sights (assuming a top rail is available), so I don't need to keep the stock front sight.

Where to find the Troy stuff?

Fab is only showing the 9" model at the moment.

Ill email them later to see if longer ones will be coming soon.

Barring that, Midwest Ind. is releasing their Gen 2 SS series which are supposed to be way ultra light.

Have no idea who may be stocking them here in Canada when they are released.

One last question for the group. Do any of these handguards clamp to the stock barrel nut, or do they all require removal of the nut and installation of a new one? I am trying to avoid removing the stock gas block and gas tube if possible.

Samson rail attaches to existing barrel nut, the gasblock however, will have to go (or have the FSB shaved)
They can be ordered direct, same shipped price than Fabsports (<200$), but they actually have all lenghts in-stock

the Troy Battle Rail is what I put on my Norc. super light and you can add or remove rails to fit your needs. I put them on my 7.5 Nea's as well and they actually feel lighter.

they are probably the lightest and most streamline free float hand guards that will easily fit on a Norinco.

I took all the rails off mine except one for a fore grip and it's pretty slick.
