Show me your sick garands

I see this thread did move from battle rifles, I will be able to play by monday or tuesday when I get mine back in my greasy little palms. I suppose I could post up the pics nick from vulcan sent me in the meantime...or would that be cheating?

Apologies for those who have seen these in the past. I so need to take a few new shots of this one.
This is my M1D built on a Dec. 1940 receiver.
Open Box SA stamp on the stock under the cheek-piece.
“555” drawing number on top of the barrel.
“Hart” flash hider.
K-Line cheek-piece.

Awesome! In a book on Vietnam snipers (13 cent killers) an old Marine speaks about how much he loved his M1D

Hey!

Some really bad@ss Garands in this thread! It looks like Pocketfisherman is the king of Garand restoration, an awesome setup going on there! Love the sniper also.

Here's my WW2 Garand, a 43' Springfield that is all correct. The online flaw I have found is that some of the arsenal stamps on the wood are very faint now, possibly from additional coats of oil.

I'd like to take this one out to the range once and a while however it currently still has an un-cut op rod, I'm slowly searching for one that's been cut so I don't have to be as nervous shooting it and can just do the switch the odd time it goes to the range. The original 43' barrel still has a surprisingly nice bore.

#4mk1(T), nice rig!

Thanks for the feedback. A friend of mine occasionally sets a up table at our local Nanaimo gun show and I like to bring this and my No.4Mk.1(T) up and set them up for display. You’ll see most people just walk by and only cast a casual glance at the two of them but then someone will walk up with the “OMG” look on their face…….Priceless

BS I say! The garand is the original battle rifle, too good to be relegated to sitting alongside threads about ruskie milsurp crap.

To get back on topic, this thread is timed perfectly for the return of my garand from Vulcan Gun Refinishing, I should have it by Monday. I may post pics ;)

Honest to goodness (hard to believe but true), I like shooting my SVt better than my M1. And I like shooting M1903's and M1917's more than either.

December 1941 Springfield M1 Garand rifle, all original configuration, never been through a rebuild. This one was sent to England under America's Lend Lease program (appropriately stamped).

"The Lend-Lease M1 Rifles are just about the only original examples of pre-WWII manufacture. They were sent to England fresh off the assembly line, sat in storage for the remainder of the war, and beginning in the 1955 time period were released by the British government for commercial sale, with some of them making it back to U.S. dealers. It is also unusual to find the painted red band indicating .30 caliber, as most were cleaned off by their new owners."
