Show me your cool tactical .22's

Here is a Ruger 10/22 Dragunov;

Loose the goofy bananna mag, and go with a flush mounted one, and I'm game.

Maybe the next victim to fall to the projects of djmay71?

All factory mechanical parts, with some accuracy enhancement in the aluminum chassis. Test fired on very windy day (enough to blow away my gazebo and bend the steel frame). 2" groups at 100 yards. I expect to do better on a calm day.

Banana mags are far from "goofy"... they are very functional... why does one own a semi-auto??? For most (myself included), to bang off more rounds without having to cycle... banana mags let you maximize that ability... all of ours cycle with 99.5% reliability. I have never been a fan of the clear and smoke BC steellip mags for looks... so we sprayed all of ours with Satin Black Krylon (for plastic)... they look much better now, see below;

How do you like the scope rings? don't you find them a bit high?

The Choate Dragunov requires the cheek piece for scope use... when we tested lower mounts, we were unable to get the cheekweld/scope view that we wanted... these Dura Sight Z2 rings and mounts were perfect for comfort and sight picture... but, yes... we normally mount the scope as close to the bore as possible.

The barrel on the Dragunov is different than I've seen before.

The barrel is a "muzzle-weighted" 18" model manufactured by Mossberg Arms on a custom spec order... the order was for 500 pieces with sporter chambers, but the company did an extra 100 barrels with Bentz chambers... I managed to get two of those.

It looks pretty awsome. Come to think of it, the Mini 14 Target has that same type of waited barrel. That makes sense.

Muzzle-weighting is for more than just looks (although they do look cool/different)... they do a number of beneficial things... they decrease overall weight when comapered to a .920/heavy barrel, they improve balance and "swing" by increasing the weight at the muzzle, they allow the use of all stock contour's including sporter stocks... and most importantly (so I am told) is that when materials are relieved from the outside diameter of the barrel the bore reacts by expanding to some minute degree... so by leaving the diamter larger at the muzzle, a "choke" is effectively created, thus stabilizing the bullet prior to exit and theoretically improving accuracy... whether that is in measurable amounts, I do not know. I do know that those barrels were very accurate.

Here's my SR22 - just installed an Inforce WML - this light feels amazing, it's the perfect fit for my hand and thumb!

It won't be staying on here for long, it'll move over to my XCR when it arrives! Or I may pick up a surefire m300a and keep this on the SR22, not sure yet.

I'm also keeping my eyes out for a Thompson 10/22 conversion kit!
