Thanks to Joel @ Borderview export firearms services in Seattle, my first sucessful and relatively painless import.

This is the FIRST RESTRICTED M&P Compact 9mm in the country.

How do I know? I got the FRT for it created from the CFC.

M&P Compact 9mm with Storm Lake 4.2" (109mm) threaded barrel and 2 x 10-round 9mm magazines with finger grooves.

You must have small hands... I don't understand the attraction to a "compact pistol" when the ergonomics of a full size pistol is so much better (for med-lg hands).

Please post the details and price of the import process.

Kinda like my "prohib" G26 better, but Congrats all the same.
The import business has "taken off'" since using folks like PH means no gouging.
My G17 in FDE frame should be here next week. Cheers

Cost

$500 for the gun
$250 for the barrel
$249 + 5% for the import fee (on the gun alone)
$30 each for the 10 round mags
12% HST at the border on the gun and mags

So approximately $1,200 for the one - I paid slightly less because I brought in more than one of these.

Process - from beginning to end, approximately three months - we had some hiccups along the way

- Emailed Joel @ Borderview of what I wanted
- Joel sent me email confirming that 'yes' it was possible and 'yes' they were available
- Paid for the guns and export process via US money order
- Applied for an international import certificate (IIC) from DFAIT
- Joel did his magic with Dept of State in regards to export permits
- Called/emailed with the RCMP firearms tech - got the FRT created in about 2 weeks
- Registered the firearms with the CFC and got the certs from CFC
- Waited
- Waited some more
- Waited a little longer
- Received approval from Dept of State
- Went to Dave's Sports in Lynden, WA - did the barrel swap in the shop
- Went back to the border with IIC, CFC reg certs, Borderview invoice, and ATT
- Joel's partner delivered the guns to Abbotsford crossing, he filed his paperwork with the CBSA guy
- CBSA opened all the guns, inspected them, checked my ATT
- Checked my invoice, paid my taxes
- Drove home with my new guns

I was a big Glock and Sig fan until I got my M&P full sized, and I realized that the gun fit me like a dream. I figured I would round out the collection by getting the M&P's little brother.

I would of actually preferred to get the M&P Shield, but I don't think there is a Canadian legal barrel for it yet.

I have to say that's alot of money and alot of hassle when you can get a fullsize for sooo much less money and so much easier. However, it's your time and your money, so congrats on the new purchase!

I know - I have the full-sized and I really like it.

I really wanted to get the smaller one to add to the collection.

Edit: The main expense was that that I had to get the aftermarket barrel for it, which added 50% to the cost - I managed to spread out the import fee costs with the other ones I brought in.

unlike some people, if you like it then thats all that matter.. Let the haters hate.

I agree with OP, I liked glocks, then I tried MP's.. They fit better and I shot them better too. Still a hardcore Glock fan boy though!

Nice Pic! :)

Very nice, I asked Questar about bringing them in, as a retail item 3 years ago and they declined, I'm surprised it took this long for someone to do it.

PS - you didn't bring in an M&P 45 Compact did you??????
