Sig P226 German

Think I'm going to play copy cat on this one ;). Were you able to get buds to fill out the transfer form? When I asked they said "they supply a FFL with all guns" and I'm not sure if that's the same thing...

And what did you do with the mags? I can't find a sig with a 10 round mags anywhere...I'm thinking of just asking greys to take them and give them to the smith that works on my gun.

Buds can do the export for you if you wish. they have all the proper contacts with all the proper Federal agencies. their fee is slightly more (300) as opposed to 250. But their 300 is an unlimited number of guns per transaction, so its 300 for 1 gun or 300 for 10.

I dont know who deals with canada side of the import ( i suppose you could do your own paperwork and deal with Canadian Federals).

If you search on gunbroker, there are a lot of vendors who say "call first if from california". California and Massachussets are a few states like Canada that have 10 rd cap on magazines. So if you can find guns approved for sale in those states you can get 10 rd magazines no problem.

I Imported 4 SIG 229 Pistols that all required a longer 106mm Barrel and 10 rnd Mags in place of the 12s(virividox,congrats,I had thought about sending them out for some work in the US before Importing, going to do that next time)

Purchased them from a Sig Dealer on SigForum.com,I listed each set of the 1 Barrel and 2 Mags on Sig Forum and sold them in the US,the seller shipped them directly to the buyers for me,offsetting the costs of replaciment and then shipped the Pistols without Barrel or Mags to the FFL

I had obtained the needed 106 mm Barrels and 10 Mags in Canada over the last year or so and had them waiting

Prophet River did a great job, once I got the Sigs to their FFL in WA,I just forgot about them,12 weeks later Melissa called,I paid and then the Pistols showed up in the Mail registered in my name

That didn't really answer either question. Prophet river requires a transfer form filled out and attached to the outside of the package. Buds doesn't do that when I asked them. Those german sig p226 come with 15 round mags. What are you going to do with them (buds won't change them with 10 rounds, I asked).

im getting them pinned. im not going direct from buds to prophet so i don't know whether or not they will do the paperwork, but if you asked the right department in buds they might put the paperwork in order. they do international sales so i dont see why they wouldnt do a little extra paper pushing.

Ya mine is going to greys also. Like I said I'm playing copy cat ;). Just a different model :p . I had been looking for a way to reduce the da trigger pull on the p226 for production shooting and haven't been able to find any smiths that can do a huge job with it untill you mentioned greys and I looked at their website. When I talked to chris at greys she mentioned that someone was doing the exact same thing I was and she was surprised. I told her I got the idea from here ;).

haha maybe we can get a group deal.

chris is super helpful. when the work is completed im just gonna double check she fills out that documentation before it goes to prophet. but since its a long time from now ill worry about it then. no need to bug her about it until its going out.

is your gun there already? buds takes about 1 week to ship their stuff out. they had a hiccup and forgot to send my magazines. they are en-route now.

if you do go with greys, i asked chris to inspect the firearm when she received it before it went into their to do list. just in case the firearm isnt what was advertised and needed to be returned.

the other 2 gunsmiths i mentioned have really quick turn arounds of 2-3 weeks and are able to do similar work to grays and are just as friendly and helpful on the phone. One is even a sig-dealer so you can order your sig directly from him if you want.

Should be there today. I ordered mine in the evening and they sent had it shipped by noon the next day. I asked her to check to make sure it was the gun I ordered too. I'm not in a huge hurry since I'm twiddling my thumbs until my pal arrives anyway.

I'm going all out with the elcp. I figure it's not going to make a return trip so better get it done right the first time ;). I mostly want them to reduce that DA pull and smooth it out. Granted the sigs I've shot are range guns but that first pull is rough.

elcp is USPA production legal, but not ISPC (diff set of rules, even if they are mistakenly interchanged).

If you check the ispc rules, you can do basic smoothing of the action (like level 1 package), but once you go elpc, you might be running in open class ( i mean you could just say you didnt do anything- but whats the point of that)

sights are ispc legit, as long as they arent ghost sites.

I checked with the ISPC rule book online, and emailed their secretary to make sure.

good luck

the changes grays does, affects rules 16.1 and 17.1

since the springs and different trigger travel stop is clearly aftermarket

Original parts and components offered by the OFM as standard equipment, or as an option, for a specific model
handgun on the IPSC approved handgun list are permitted, subject to the following:
16.1 Modifications to them, other than minor detailing (the removal of burrs and/or adjustments unavoidably
required in order to fit replacement OFM parts or components), are prohibited. Other prohibited
modifications include those which facilitate faster reloading (e.g. flared, enlarged and/or add-on
magwells, etc.), changing the original color and/or finish of a handgun, and/or adding stripes or other
embellishments.
16.2 Magazines accessible to a competitor during a COF must not contain more than 15 rounds at the Start
Signal. Identifying marks or decals, internal capacity limiters, bumper pads and additional witness holes,
which add or remove negligible weight to/from magazines, are permitted.
16.3 Sights may be trimmed, adjusted and/or have sight black applied. Sights may also be fitted with fiber
optic or similar inserts.
17. Aftermarket parts, components and accessories are prohibited, except as follows:
17.1 Aftermarket magazines are permitted, subject to 16.2 above.
17.2 Aftermarket open sights (see Rule 5.1.3.1) are permitted, provided their installation and/or adjustment
requires no alteration to the handgun.
17.3 Aftermarket grip panels which match the profile and contours of the OFM standard or optional grip
panels for the approved handgun and/or the application of tape on grips (see Appendix E3) are permitted.
However, rubber sleeves are prohibited

Hmm. I was under the impression that was external modifications like mag wells and ported barrels. It's still good for standard class too. I'll have to see what is common here in Edmonton. What you end up getting for sights?

oh standard! i thought you were running production. i thik if you are going standard you are all good in the hood! im going with dawson/warren combo.

since its a range gun, there really is no need for night sights per se

Getting mags pinned has been an issue for me in the past. May I ask who is doing that for you. PM me if you would prefer.

Gord

Ya I wanted to do production but I guess ill have to go standard. I don't like open. They no longer look like guns in open :(. I really haven't done a lot of research into sights at all.
