Hunting rifles

You leave lots of cracks in the gaps there Spartan.
Tradex and a Husq 30-06 would fit most bills,
even the budget bill.
What are you planning to hunt.
Ranges of hunting distances
and your expectations of this rifle you are thinking about.

Well I'm not quite sure I've never gone hunting and my uncle as invited me to go black bear hunting with him, he hunts everything so I'm trying find something that would be good enough that i could tag along with him when he goes out

You missed a beauty of a Husky in the EE today.
Would of probably fit your bill.
Check out Trade Ex up above.
The CGN beaver mascot's barrel is aiming at them.
I would opt for the Mauser 98 actions or the Husq's too.
Any action you prefer?

If youare hunting big game, 30.06 is a great calibre, however in most Provinces, nothing over a .277 caliber is allowed for varmints. If you had a .270,which is a great calibre, you could expand your options

Lucky boy. Nothing over .23 allowed here unless you've got a spring bear, moose, deer or fall bear tag. Once the tag is full, back to the peashooter for dogs.

Exactly which provinces don't allow a person to shoot varmints with a bullet larger than .277"? Given that we have ten provinces, most provinces would mean at least six provinces.

I hadn't heard of that. We don't have any calibre limits for varmint hunting here. Apart from Saskatchewan, which other provinces are exceptions to that?

As far as caliber goes, you've got about 20 differnt choices between the .270win and say .35 whelen. Not to mention the common magnums. Your prospects in rifles are also much brighter than they were just a few years ago. All depends on what features you want. Best option is to visit a good gun stor and have them explain to you the pros and cons of different rifle brands. Handle them and see what you like best!

If it's any help I've decided on a 25-06. Plenty of reach for those little critters, and more then capable for deer. We can only use shotgun for deer in my local area so most of my shooting will be long range ground hoggin (think turf air strip and the damage a groundhog can do...to a landing plane!

Also I have two bad shoulders and felt the 30-06 would just be too much kick. Also I like the oddiities, and there aren't a lot of those around. Kinda limits ammo a bit, but still popular enough to not be difficult to get.
