Oh Ok, I thought I could see the barrel sticking out the bottom an inch or so.
Seems to me like a bit more leather at the muzzle end might protect the crown and front sight better from knocks and dings and wouldn't allow the front sight to hang up if the gun is not pulled out straight but if your happy that's all that matters.

The strap hooks onto the hammer spur......the slit just slides over the end of the hammer to secure the gun in the sheath. It looks like it's adjustable for length and then you need to secure it when you determine the right length for your gun by tying it off or running it back on itself through the slots in the holster.
 
that is a mares leg with the octagon barrel? I didn't think those came in .44 Mag? My Mares leg in .44 is a round barrel and I want octagonal!
 
id love a mares leg in 45 colt! too bad I can't afford one :p

Wanstalls, your really trying to take me for all my money :D I think the mares leg just bumped itself up to the top of my list.
