PSA: Ruger SR1911 available at...

I saw and handled one at Wholesale in Calgary earlier this afternoon. The very helpful gentleman behind the counter told me that they have a grand total of two in stock. I wouldn't expect them to last long.

I picked one up in Toronto......had 2 and I grabbed one via online asap early morn.

Very nice piece. It's a shooters gun, not to be safely tucked away in a safe......for $750 plus tax......can't be beat....

If you stumble across one, get it! Don't drive home to think on it or call the wife, as these things simply fly off (or out of) display cases.

I had heard how bad they were but I did not believe it until I experienced it for my self.

Thanks for the heads up! I thought it was too late when I saw this post at 5:45, but I decided to give them a call just to be sure. To my surprise, they still had one left though it was the demo model but I figured how much banging and scraping could it have gone through in such little time? And even better....

I asked him to hold onto it for the next hour and 45 minutes later I was paying for it

According to the sales guy, they had 5 come in and they were all sold with in a week. They have another 5 on the way, but when "on the way" is he didn't know.

I ordered an SR9 from them August of 2011, it was a store transfer... It's now July 2012 and no phone call... (I picked one up at a local indy store in the mean time...) but I never trust WSS with any date / time frame.

If you guys are ever there and want some friendly service, look for Alex.

There are a few really useful people there. And there are a few others. I agree that Alex is certainly one of the best.

This can be said with almost any shop, there are good, and there are no so good.

The issue I have with WSS is their lack of ability to do anything with the 'big box' attitude of helping the masses with what they have, if you deviate from that or need something specific, then don't bother.

That's a great deal. I got mine last fall (one of the first in the country, I believe ) from P&D for $725 which I thought was really fair so this is even better. I may have to buy a second one.

LOL!!! My buddy at work had a line on the 1911's at WSS and called the Nanaimo store a couple of days ago. They told him they were out but there were 3 in Calgary and they'll put his name on one to transfer it. Yesterday he calls back to confirm and they tell him they sold it!! Must have been you!!
The rest of the story is that they tracked another down for him and it's enroute. (that's what he tells me anyway)
