A new CZ 550 Deluxe for $4200 in 505 Gibbs

This firearm is a piece of crap like most CZ rifles. Wood only is half decent for a $1200 rifle. Tool marking are all over the receiver. Bolt shroud has tool marks on the underside. Thin wiggly set trigger that feels like it is too delicate. Bolt face made for a .375 H&H rim sized cartridge and the same folding leaf sights that is on the .375 H&H ranged for a 100, 200 and 300 meters. The bolt keeps binding in the receiver. Poor bluing job even a $1000 Winchester M70 has a MUCH nicer bluing. No grip cap or fore end cap. The rifle is shoddy with a poor fit and finish and no attention to detail what so ever. Price should be MAX $1600. What gives? Even the $1200 Winchester M70 Express is a FAR better rifle this this.

A used Hi Point pistol for $375 in 9mm

Needless to say this is a piece of crap ghetto pistol. Mostly everyone knows what the pistol is so I will forgo further description of the firearm. New price should be absolute MAX $190. Is this because some bonehead thought he had an antique on his hand or did the price just rise because it acquired magical properties because he used it?

A used Walther P99QA for $1500 in 9mm

Very good pistol which rivals the Glock and M&P pistols and some may judge is better than even the Glocks and M&Ps. But again I have to ask “Is this because some bonehead thought he had an antique on his hand or did the price just rise because it acquired magical properties because he used it?” New price should be about $675.

I am all for a free market but some of these prices are ridiculous. In the US you easily pick up a used firearm for 50%-70% of the new price (70% if at a retailer). At US gun shows they compete with each other to sell their guns and are happy to trade etc. At Canadian gun shows I see prices that range around the 90% - 110% mark. As one Canadian put it to me “Why would I sell it to you for $### when you can go around trading it and looking for a good deal. I can do the same you know.” In the States the sales are brisk whereas in Canada people mostly look over guns and that is about it. I am sure there are exceptions to the rule and someone will cite the exceptions … I got a brand new Weatherby Crown custom for $1000 etc but this is not the norm.

Does anyone else find this strange?

haha i think its real funny you think most cz are crap? have you ever owned one or even fired one? you may find the odd bad apple but cz quality is awesome! but yes they put a real high price on rifle to try and get the best price they can. if they wont budge of that price then let someone else pay for a over priced used gun.

some guys just like going to shows and someday someone may want the particular gun no matter what the cost and if you don't really want to sell it but want to have something on the table others will talk about well then you get to keep going to shows and hanging out until it sells. Just because someone prices their gun too high and you won't buy it doesn't mean someone else wont.

i swear it is the guy with lots of guns thats wife is saying you need to sell a bunch of those. So he heads to the local gun show and figures if someone is willing to buy them for these prices well hell i will sell them. Or its the guy that over paid for them in the first place so he figures that is a good price not even looking into it. You see that all the time at shows and well here and other forums too.

CZ fit and finish might not be the greatest(still better than op claims) but its hard to find a gun that will out shoot them at twice the price

Yes I own a CZ 550 Deluxe in 458 Lott, O/U Redhead and a SxS Ringneck, CZ-75B in 40 S&W. Further to that the CZ-75B has been back to CZ twice and they have yet to rectify the FTE issue that has plagued the pistol from the beginning. My dog chewed the fore end of the Redhead and I had to send it out to be fitted, received the gun back and the underside screw was not fitted and scrapes the palm of the off hand. Yea I have since moved away from the CZ. I was surprised at how shoddy the CZ 550 was. It was no different from the shoddy CZ 550 Deluxe I own for which I paid $1600 with the same leaf sights calibrated for the .375 H&H. However, I'll say this, it does shoot a 3" group at 100 yds. so fairly accurate - usually CZ are not known for their accuracy.

CZ centre fire rifles have a very small share of the rifle market, because they are over priced for the quality . They do offer calibers that many manufacturers do not and that has appeal to shooters.

i agree, some people don't know the real price. last time i went to a show, a guy was selling a new in box henry mare's leg in 22lr for 550$. you can get the same at le baron for 325$.

This is the reason I stopped going to gun shows. Mostly ridiculous prices.
I think that this is due to 2 reasons.
Perhaps someone will pay twice as much for an item & make the seller very happy.
Also, a number of sellers like going to shows & setting up a table as a social event. A chance to see the other sellers again.

Gun show prices have little to do with reality. Some good deals do appear but lots are overpriced, know your prices and it`ll be good.

Agree with this...I hope things change a bit now that the registry is gone...

I go to the shows for ammo, reloading stuff, and optics...This is where the biggest deals are,and make going to the show well worth while...

Just because someone does not share your sagacious insight into how great _your_ CZ is or your brand myopia does not mean that they need to get their head out of their rectum. Perhaps you do... As for my "mr 13 post"... are you not engaging in a logical fallacy? Ad argumentum ad .... (<let you finish this). My 13 post (lol) does not reflect my knowledge of firearms... it is extensive.

If you want to engage in a debate let's hear it. If not shut up and buzz off; there is no reason to engage in this discussion.
