Hello, I have an svt-40. I truthfully think it's an AVT-40. All numbers matching, dual cut-outs for auto/ semi lever selector. Star and 1943 stamped on top of breech, star and capital A stamped on right side on stock, plumed bolt. Auto sear removed. Very limited info on internet about AVT-40. Would like to cross reference serial number to prove its an AVT. No electropencilling serial numbers just factory stamping. Right side of breech stamping of capital P inside diamond, K inside circle, diamond or square inside circle, and nothing more. Left side of breech has nothing more than serial number plus serial number under bolt, underside of bolt lever, bottom of trigger guard, leftside of stock--full serial number lengthwise and just numbers sidewise. Nothing at all stamped on clip. Plus I have two factory packages of ammo wrapped in waxed paper tied in string, plus about another 50 or so loose steel nosed ammo. Factory sling on gun with fixed front barrel band swivel. Two slot muzzel brake. Light colored hardwood stock. Gun came from USA about 15-20 years ago. Would like all info I can get about rifle. What is it's value? It will be for sale once I can get honest price for what I can get for it.

In all likely hood, the stock is AVT but everything else is svt. My svt40 is in a AVT stock.

After the AVT was canceled, they recycled the stocks during the refurb process.

As for value it sounds like yours is a matching refurb, so maybe $350-400, but really depends on how many rounds have been put threw it. If it was still in the states probably your would get $1000+

Likely the rifle was refurbed with an AVT stock, like he said. 2 of my 3 are like this, one with a regular AVT stock, one with a naval AVT stock.

Your run of the mill refurbed SVT-40 is worth $289.00 as long as it has the mag pouches, cleaning rod/tools, and the stock is not cracked.

Nah, you're over estimating it's worth - she's just a refurb, worth $300

Looks like a regular SVT to me. What cut outs are you referring to? There was a select fire SVT (AVT) made?

How do you know this rifle has an AVT stock?

SVT-40 with an AVT stock just like mine. $159.00 at Coastal Marine in Mount Pearl, NL. I bought one a while back. AVT-40's were select fire with two notches cut out by the trigger guard. Unless yours is select fire, then it's an SVT. If it is a select fire, delete your posts and slip quitely away!:nest:

Mine is select fire with the auto sear removed so its not automatic weapon, it is only semi auto. Is the avt-40 prohibited, if it was still fully auto working, now it is just semi.

That would still make it a svt 40, nothing extra special about your svt 40 vs mine or anybody else.

If it is a avt-40 without the auto sear it is prohibited as a converted auto and the best thing to do is strip the parts off it minus the trigger group and reciever and toss them. It is cool to have and not anymore dangerous than a regular svt 40 but it isn't worth the jail time if you get caught with it.
