First let me say I am a proud Northern Ontario hunter and fisherman and I buy all of my tags every year ( bear, deer, moose and even turkey in a different WMU).
I just received my antlerless deer tag and read on the back of the envelope the following; "All fishing and hunting licence revenue is now earmarked for fish and wildlife management and conservation. Your involvement makes a difference." Reading this made me feel good, like I was somehow helping. I turned the letter over and noticed the postage stamp, it was mailed from Zipcode 37214! A quick search showed this is Nashville, Tennessee!
I'm more than a little peeved to know my tag fees are going to pay for jobs south of the border. Didn't a lot of MNR staff get laid off recently, was it due to outsourcing?
Does anyone else think this is odd and not even right, or is it just me?:mad::mad:

I've read and been told it was a McGuinty Admin. change over on the physical size of license and the outsourcing.

I have not tried to verify this, but it did seem to change after the last election?

Ya these new ziptie tags can't wait to see how they hold up while dragging a game animal out. I want the stickers back. If you call the mnr # it tells you your info is housed outside of canada now subject to their laws

Zip ties? My moose and Deer are stickers

If this story is true, then we can assume Ontario union workers charge more than American to Ontario tax payers.
Tip my hat for the courage this Ontario government is showing in this issue. I don't like liberal government, but sometimes they do good things.

Maybe you'll feel different when your job is outsourced to some cheap labour force.

I can't see the tag system actually being that labour intensive
1 person to make sure the computer is on
1 person to make sure the printer always paper
1 person to put all the envelopes in the mail box

can it really save that much money to have it outsourced?

I talked to the guy at the service canada office, he said when they have questions they call Alabama and he said they are so hard to understand. Its like Bell and having their call center in India like WTF. I'm Asian but I can speak proper english lol.

My resident deer seal and resident bear seal are punched with two holes and came with a zip tie. My resident moose tag and additional deer seals are the older peel and fold type. I don't have an explanation for this. My small game tag and fishing licence are on a 8.5X11 piece of computer printer paper. I miss the old days.

Moose and deer both the same colour too. Awesome. Can see people getting them mixed up in the excitement of a kill and forgetting to keep the top portion as proof of purchase.
