I'm looking to buy my first handgun. Looking for .22lr. Budget is around $450.00

Any opinions on which target pistols are better than others in this price range (new or used) I'll be asking at the range also but the more opinions the better.

Get yourself a GSG 1911 will fit in your budget after tax. I had a few other .22's more accurate and better quaility but GSG was just more fun to shoot!

After much deliberation about 3 years ago, I opted for the Ruger Mark III Stainless Target. I couldn't be happier. It never jams and is extremely accurate.

+1gsg. You will love it....... Nearly 7000rounds through mine and still makes me smile...

Every now and then a High Standard comes up for sale. These are underrated and undervalued pistols. I managed to snag a Victor for 500.-. It was smooth and stupidly accurate. The barrels on most their pistols can be changed by a clever and stable push button system. Adjustable trigger pull and limiting. The company has been reborn in Texas and replacement parts are available.

I've heard of the High Standard but don't know much about them. Tried a S&W model 41 but a little out of my price range for right now. I haven't seen any Rugers being used at the clubs I've been to but will check agai. Thanks for the feedback, looking forward to reading more.

Browning Buckmark Contour 5.5 URX was my choice after trying a couple models. Sure the Ruger is an excellent pistol, but I liked the handling of the Buckmark more. This thing is VERY precise, and great fun to shoot. And I find it looks better than the Ruger IMHO.
