Hi everyone!

I've just finished building a Remington 700 SPS tactical all on a budget build & everything purchased on CGN. Took some time but I found everything I needed. What I'm going to do now it paint my new found love but want to hear any recommendations on the best way to do it.

Also, I would love to see how other members have decorated their bang sticks. So post your pictures!

Thanks in advance.

I just did a relatively simple paint job on my ruger 10/22. I had never tried painting anything but I'm happy how it came out. Scuffed up the stock withsome steel wool, wiped everything down with varsol, then gave it a "texture" coat on the stock(I used a krylon product called make it stone), gave everything a base coat of krylon ultra flat tan, then layed a net over top and went to town with krylon ultra flat olive and brown.

Ended up with this guy.

If your looking to do a simple spray paint job like I did, I'd strongly suggest trying your hand at it and different pattern types on something likena gun case. Just to be sure you'll be happy with it.

started with this

ended up like this

cant go wrong with wrattle can ...if you f*** up ...clean it off and start again

started with textured brown ..hand painted camo and finished with a mist of texture to make the camo blend better

I'm guessing a sponge was used on the wet paint.............

And you're the winner!

A couple rattle cans of Krylon, a torn up REAL sea sponge (real makes much nicer pattern than your average toilet cleaning sponge)

I started with a base coat of the tan. Then added the stripes in green

Then I just sprayed some black paint in a paper bowl and sponged some on here and there. Following the same method, I then sponged tan on the green strips, and green on the tan stripes. The black was just to break up the tan/green a little. The trick is not to go too heavy with the sponging, or it will end up looking very "busy".

Then a couple days later, VOILA!!

Now you know my secret, don't go posting it on any public forums or anything :p Have fun

that was way more exciting then mine, just a base of tan... then grabbed the plastic mesh off the top of a box of tangerines, used it as a stencil when laying down light strokes of OD Green and matte black... I wanted a primary of tan so went easy on both other colours. Then dusted it with a clear coat to prevent easy scratches and chips. (no baking - but if it wasn't a hunting rifle, i'd suggest that route)
