I use my FS2000 standard mostly for 3-gun and I was having some trouble with getting accurate hits at longer ranges with the factory 1.6x optic. So I purchased a SpecterDR, brought it home and attached it.

When I went to the range the next day to sight it in, my first shots were at 25yds just to make sure I was on paper. I had the front end of the FS resting on the tailgate of my truck and I was sort of half crouched behind it. And the shots were just 1.5/2" below center and pretty well perfect left/right. I didn't even touch the optic other than to attach it. Next I shot at 50yds and they were right on the money. Awesome, and without any adjusting at all. Next I shot at 100yds. I was using a stump to rest the front end of the gun on and I was sitting on the ground behind the stump. Not the best for stability but I was all I could do at the time. The first five shots were 2.5/3" high but centered left/right. The next six shots I aimed the width of the red dot low and got 2of6 hits right in the bulls eye.

I'm pretty happy with those results. I'm sure if I had a proper rest I could seriously improve on those results. It was also very hot and humid and I was sweating like crazy, I was a bit uncomfortable sitting the way I was too.

As for the optic - I can't believe how clear it is. When it's on 1x, bringing it up to firing position there is no change in the view except now there is a red dot and crosshairs. It's like looking through nothing. There's no distortion/movement between just looking forward and then bringing the gun into firing position and looking through the optic. I had to do it over and over just to try and see ANY sort of difference at all and couldn't. Truly amazing.

I can't wait for my next 3-gun match.

The Elcan's look awesome on your rifles guys!

I would go that route if I had the $$$. But, I just couldn't & so, I went with the Elite 6500 1.25-8x32 because I use my Tavor & RFB for hunting & wanted a value price yet decent scope.

Cheers

Aside from the awesome performance of the Elcan Spectre, I think its also one of the ###iest looking sights there is right now.

Ive never seen one on an FS2000 before and it looks Fantastic!

Well Done!

Cool, I don't think I've ever seen an Elcan on an FS2000 before...

I had a C79 on my first FS2000 which I soon swapped out for an ACOG. Sold that rifle then bought another a year later -- that one wears an Aimpoint Comp4S. The C79 was not a great scope for the FS2000 (too heavy, too tall) but Mercury0_0's DR looks to be a much better fit--you can see how much lower it sits.

Well... no. He would be able to hit more accurately at any given distance.

And I doubt he has a M14 anyway:rolleyes:

You are correct, it is the m305 shorty from CanAm. I do not have a real M14, though I'm sure everyone else but you understood what I was talking about.

Well iron sights vs magnified optical sight at long distance, scope wins every time.

Unless you're a Ninja who resides on the upper level in the mall.
Golf ball sized targets don't stand a chance with iron sights at 800M.

Scopes don;t work well at night either, The Mall Ninja can use his Iron Sights to take out gophers on a cloudy night @ 300M

What are you going on about? Your last two posts in this thread have been baiting/trolling at best.

Well, I finally had a 3-gun match in Rexburg, Idaho. I was visiting my Dad in Montana (we were fly fishing the Madison river) and decided to hit Rexburg. It was the first time I've ever shot over 100yds with the FS2000. We shot steel plates from 91yds, 68yds, 180yds, and all the way to 298yds. I had no idea if I was gonna be able to hit the steel at 180 or 298 yds. Turns out, I shouldn't have worried. The graduated reticle worked perfectly. I was hitting steel all the way back to 298yds with ease.

1x-4x vs 1,5x-6x, which one and why? Let's say on a tavor.

If you're gonna be shooting 3-gun then 1x-4x. The 1x is awesome for cqb range (0-25yrds), with very quick acquisition of targets when you bring the rifle up from the low ready position. And when transitioning between targets. 4x will be plenty of magnification up to 300/400 yards. There are guys who can shoot up to 600 yards with the optic on 4x. I'm not sure if I'm one of those guys yet. Maybe.

If you're expecting to shoot mostly/only at long range then the extra magnification of the 6x might help. I'm not sure what type of activity you'd be doing for those kinds of ranges though. If you are routinely shooting long range then get a proper optic (and magnification) for the application.
