The replies have become personally insulting and useless as advice. Not acceptable. I found this surprising, but then again maybe not. Time to shut it down.

Be good about it. Don't freak. Impress her with your reasonableness and desire to make sure she is happy and totally on board.

Unless she is a brainwashed anti, she will probably eventually come around. If she agreed to the PAL course, then I suspect she is not totally against it.

Don't turn this into a fight, because then she is less likely to change her mind or think about it carefully, and just say "no" as a reflex.

Often you can get that kind of concession with some sort of concession of your own, sometimes on a totally unrelated matter.

It's a test.

FAQ - to funny!!!

Is there anyway that she would go shooting with you? Make it fun, no stress, small calibre stuff???

She might come around enough to know that they aren't 'evil'

Get your PAL, do your hunters safety course. If worst comes to worst you can always borrow a friends gun when going hunting. No need to not follow through with your plans now. Easier to get it all done then try to convince her using some of the advice given above, rather than convincing her and then re-registering.

Problem solved in 3 easy steps:

1. Go get your testicles from her jewelry box.
2. Tell her you're going to get a gun.
3. Procure gun.

Man up, because; a) she'll appreciate your assertiveness in the long run, unless she figures she married a eunuch and b) if she does get pissed off and leave - well, then you won't have to deal with that kind of person for the remainder of your life.

Win/win, really.

Buy your damn guns! and quit carrying her purse!

Just do what I did. Have your wife take the PAL course for educational purposes. After my wife did the course she proceeded to get her PAL and now goes to the range with me all the time. And all of this is after she told me "no guns in the house. " needless to say I now have lots of guns.

Yep. i second that.... Jeez man, MAN UP. you got the pal, now buy a gun. I'm guessing she makes alot more than just this decision for you.... ;-(

"Forbid" her from buying new shoes and see how that goes.
I would honestly be second guessing a future with a spouse that forbids me from doing anything remotely reasonable.
I waited 5 years to find a girl that is remotely reasonable, other than a good deal of eye rolling it's pretty smooth.
