I think this is one of the closest polls i've seen in my short time here. It's clear we can remove the HK45.

Seems to be lots of love for the Sig P220, Glock 21 Gen 4 and the M&P45

Well, no...not at all. The trigger pull will be different. Bore axis will be different. Weight and balance will be different. Grip will be significantly different. Sight picture will be different.

A single action P220 will be substantially different in many ways than a 1911. If SIG had to be accused of trying to cater to the .45 market it'd be their line of actual 1911s, don't you think?

Don't try to fight this one with logic Master-G. If it's single action and has a thumb safety, it's a money grabbing, step backwards, SIG rip off! TDC has spoken, and that's all that matters! LOL

Oh and no grip safety.

And yes SIG makes a DAO that also gets rave reviews.

At the moment hk45 loses to a glock 21 on an internet forum, I lose all faith in the internet.

:p

I agree Evolture. Just like I kind of dig Springfield's XD, would I chose it over an HK? No, but lots of people prefer a Ford Focus over a Mercedes.

Well this pistol is hard to come by here. I am sure if someone had one and put it on the EE, they'd get more than they paid for it. I think that should tell you something.

Can anyone who has held both the Glock 21 and HK USP 45, let me know how the grips are. Is the USP grip better or worse for smaller hands then the Glock 21?

Sig 220. I have always been a G21 fan till i tried one. When i need to use gloves the Glock 21's grip seems combersome. Both cycle flawlessly. The Sig being more accurate but a bit more pricey.

One of the quotes for the SIG 220 SAO from PoliceLink:

"I just purchased this Sig P220 SAO and let me tell you......love it......if your a sig guy then you need to check into this....... it has the same operation basically as a 1911 but with tighter tolerances. The trigger pull is a light 3.5 to 4.0 lbs! It has an acutal SAFTY......just like a 1911 so you can carry it cocked and locked. Amtidextrious safties comes with sig light night sights with 8 round mags with an optional 10 round mag.....damn is it impressive. Very light weight and dead on accuracy!! A must have for any officer."

Also the safety can be applied even with the slide back. You don't have to wait til the gun is in battery to apply the safety.

$839 with 2 mags at Arma Coat a few months ago. You won't be able to find them new... a couple places brought in shipments-SOLD out fast.

This is one of the rare times when I think every pistol on the poll is a good choice.

And the 220 is a good pistol, too.

I think the HK45 is the state of the art in .45acp pistols, but the Glock, M&P, USP, and the 220 are all guns I would bank on.

Interestingly, other than a proven 1911, I can't think of another .45 pistol I would bother with. Your short list was pretty good.
