Butler Creek mags jamming?

Has anyone had any issues with the Butler Creek 25 round mags for the 10/22? I picked up 2 of them for my Ruger 10/22 in an Archangel setup. WhenI load them to full capacity 25 rounds, it will fire one then jam, then once you clear the jam it will do the same thing. It happens for the first 5 or so rounds. If I just load like 18-20 rounds in the mag they work fine.

Its happening to both of my new mags, but one a bit more then the other.

Anyone know how to fix this?
 
I had the same situation with mine.... I ran a few hundred rounds through and They ran flawlessly. Id say just give them some time.
 
Ha well this is familiar. Bought two. Gave one to a buddy and his worked fine. Mine jammed constantly. I never had it up to 25, just stuck with 20. At one point i had a round that came out bent. It seems like they catch on the inside and don't fully seat at the top.

Tried my mag in buddy's 10/22 and same result - multiple jams. Tried his mag in my rifle and it was fine. The stock 10 round Ruger mag was fine, zero issues.

I understand that 22LR's can be prone to all sorts of things, but the problem was easily replicated with different types of ammo and in different rifles. I'm willing to 'work it in' but if you are actually waiting a minute or 30 seconds for each 'click' then it might take a while to get through a 20 round mag...

Not sure if there is any recourse.. caveat emptor I guess....
 
When I had a 10/22, I found the B.C. mags with the plastic feed lips were absolute junk. The "Steel Lips" ones were much better. Do yours have plastic or steel? I think the plastic ones are called "Hot Lips".
 
I don't want to be negative for your problems here with the BC-25s but when I bought 2 TI-25s, the choice was made after reviewing all comments on 10/22 25 round mags. And the steel lipped BCs were spoken well of but the TI-25s seemed to have the edge, being adjustable.

Anyone who reads the Rimfire forum must have seen my problems.

Well, I am making slow progress with the TI-25s and posted that I found if I chambered a round from a Ruger 10 mag, pulled the mag out and inserted a TI-25 with say 15 rounds, I could empty it as fast as I could pull the trigger! And in that post, I named the ammo that I was using and named what would not work. I will try for 20 rounds and see if I can work up to 25...

Go figure...
 
I had the exact same issue and mine were the metal lip. The store suggested putting graphite to loosen it up and believe it or not it fixed the problem! I've put over a thousand rounds through them and haven't had a jam since!
 
Using winchester bulk 500 pack ammo in a ruger 10/22. Occasionally an FTF occurs but it is bc the round isnt sitting straight in the casing and wont feed properly.

It isn't the magazine, its the ammo. I like my butler creek magazines just fine.

What do you mean? and how do it do it?
 
Ultra Slick, Extra Fine, Graphite Lubricant. It's a dry lubricant, so it won't gunk up the inside of your mag due to fouling. If you use a wet lubricant and it gunks up inside the mag, you'll never be able to clean it out. The graphite fixes this problem. I just gently puffed some through a few small access points and you're all set! Best of all, $4.99 from Canadian Tire and there's enough to last you a lifetime!
 
wow, even the product number!!! Where did you squirt it in? The only access points i can see are where the bullets load and a hole in the bottom
 
I had this with one of my new mags but i compared my old one and noticed each rifle has its own wear marks and mine wore out the back right steal lip just barely so i filed it down to match and it worked flawlessly.

Yup, that's it! It's a bit of trial and error, as if you don't put enough in, it won't fix the problem 100%. At the same time, putting too much of any lubricant isn't good either. I started off by putting in some in both ends, load, shoot and repeat until I had no more FTF. I hope it works for you as we'll as it worked for me, because I was sooooo frustrated with the Butler creek mags before I had my fix.
 
its not a few jams, its the first 5 rounds every mag... That like 6 busted half bent sketchy looking bullets waisted every 2 mags.
 
I tried that graphite stuff and it worked for the first few mag full's i just shot some up the hole in the bottom. I'm gonna hit it again and maybe from the top too. But it defiantly made a difference. I also tried some of the Remington thunder bolts, huge difference with that ammo.

I also picked up the speed leader. its sweet. I shot twice as much today and my fingers stayed clean.
