Going to thin out the herd, so to speak... can't decide which of these two to sell since they are so close in chamberings... the Rem 7 in 7mm08, or the Ruger #1 in 7x57? both shoot VERY well, but fill the same slot for usefulness.... Argg! Having a second round has never been a big deal to me, hence my boggle.

Which of the two cartridges would you keep, and why? I myself can't really see any significant difference.....

It's the ONLY remington I own now, however I have a few Rugers, M77's, #1's and my fave the 44 carbine. .... I would hate to have to say "no I don't own brand X, so therefore I am clueless" lol

Don't know what I'd do with a wood/blued single shot 7X57 when I had a 7-08 handy. But I don't like 20" Model 7s either...so it'd be a tough call. I'd likely sell both and buy a Mountain SS or LSS in 7-08/280.

For practical hunting purposes it's up to you, if you will use a short bolt action repeating rifle more often then keep it. If you like a classy single shot then keep it. The suggestions about keeping the 7x57 are spot on, it's easy to replace the 7mm-08, harder to get the 7x57. But the advantage is that you will have lots of interest if you put the 7x57 on the EE. Secretely everyone is hoping that you do ;) If I were you I'd keep the 7x57, but a gun that sits in a safe and doesn't get used is a waste, so sell whichever one you will hunt with or take to the range less

It's a Ruger #1 International (full stock) in 7x57, and VERY classy wood, got lucky there. but it isn't the only pretty number 1 I have....

Eh? By showing up with something like a Dakota or Blaser for bartering fodder? For one of those in 375 H&H or 300 H&H I might open more than one safe!

every rifle can shoot well, but not every one has a strong and safe action.

Remington is a no no. mauser 98,Winchester 70,weatherby mark v,.... are the actions one should have in their rifles. always make sure your hand and face are safe if rupture of a case occurs.

Sooo, my Model Seven in 7mm08 is in danger of rupturing launching a 140 grain sub 3000 FPS? I don't think I want a 500 Jeffery in a Model 7, but in 7mm08?

Thinking of selling the full stocked Ruger #1 with pretty wood in 7x57? Is there someone nearby that can slap you back into your senses? If not you could always order a pizza and pay the delivery boy extra to do it.
