I have more than 12 firearms and only 4 of them are for hunting. I am trying to decide if I need another hunting rifle or am I good with what I have. I hunt grouse, waterfowl, deer, moose and I've been thinking about getting into hunting Elk. I have also been considering doing the coyote/wolf hunting thing in the off-season months.

Grouse & Waterfowl - 12 ga Remington 870 Express
Deer - .270 Win Remington 700 & .308 Win Tikka T3 Lite
Moose - .30-06 Sprg Remington 700

I was thinking about a 7mm Rem Mag, but I don't really seen the point since I have a .270 and a .308. Maybe a .22-250 for shooting coyotes if I get into that. But then I was thinking I could just use my .223 rem target rifle for that.

Any opinions?

Well 13 is an unlucky number and 20 is good.
Thirty is better and forty is better'n thirty.
See where eye'm going with this?
Eenie, meenie minie moe, which one gits to go.....
It is always great to have to make decisions.............aye gummutzs?

You've got the middle of the road covered wiht the 270, 308 and 3006. What you need now is a big gun, like a NEW KING, and a small gun like a light .223

12 guns eh ? At last count I think there are somewhere between 70 and 80 sets of loading dies on my bench.
Mind you this includes several various handgun sets also.
Seriously though, my gunsafes are long overdue for culling.
For example, this morning I was reading a thread on here about the 7mms and it dawned on me that I have a 7X57 somewhere that I haven't shot for a while..... sure enough what do I find after some digging but my old BSA Majestic and a couple boxes of handloads.... life is good ....

Sounds to me like you are stating you "want" another hunting rifle as opposed to "needing" one because anyone with more than 12 firearms should be able to tackle most anything around, with the variety of calibers you have.It is a situation I face all the time as well and I can really relate to that craving to find an excuse for another addition to the herd!!!

Really depends. I am one for quality or quantity. I would rather have 5 nice firearms then 12 or more firearms with lower quality. If you a 30 06 and 308 do you really need a 7 mm reg mag. When my collection was larger I made sure I sold something before I purchased something. Hey if you have an unlimited budget then go buy another guy. Really no need to advertise. It is your money. I am one for quality over quantity.

You need more, without a doubt, but what you need is something classy.

Has to be metric for sure, like a 6.5mm or 7mm but nothing common, like 6.5 x 55AI or 7 x 57 , something that makes you sound sophisticated. ;)

Any less would be uncivilized.

Answer- Yes, if you have room in your safe.

If you do not have enough room in your safe, go get another safe, and then immediately buy enough to fill it.

Rinse and repeat.

If there isn't a hungry mouth to feed u should.buy another . It's simalar to investing in gold. Just building assets for a later date for when times get tough. Can't really depend on the retirement system these days
