Tavor legal status

saying a NR will become R or P IS going to encourage sales... because people will want it before they cant have it...

likely just an honest mistake or someone just spreading the latest gossip

no status changes are planned as of now.

You have me intrigued now, so if you buy a NR rifle and it gets changed to R or PRO you keep your purchased status? cause I thought you would then have to register it and get an ATT, etc etc. and if you didn't report it you'd have no luck shooting it in the woods or the range.
 
I have had gun stores tell me the AR is going be be prohibited... and that ammo in excess of 1000 rounds is illegal, and that various LEGAL NR shotguns are illegal... that it is ILLEGAL to display guns in your home on locked stands (must be hidden, yeah right) and that hollow points are illegal

just because it came from a reputable gun store, does not mean that particular clerk knows what he is talking about, as with the jager .22 we would be the first to know if a real status change happened because our members would be starting threads like "i just recieved a letter from the RCMP telling me my jager .22 is now prohib"

Maybe it was restricted by barrell length?

Semi auto centerfire rifles and carbines with barrell lengths under 18 1/2" fall into the restricted category. Been that way since 1979.

There are both restricted and non restricted Tavors in Canada.

No, the rifle gets confiscated. Ask T97 owners.

If a prohib license was created to grandfather current owners, you still can't shoot the rifles any where, and I would speculate that it'd be for that rifle only and not allow you to buy other prohibs.
To me, it's as bad as confiscation, and is not a fair compromise.
 
I want to say the ar15 was never non-restricted, it was just another gun back when they didn't fall into contrived categories.
But I am to young to be sure.
