The Downside of bullpup rifles.(one of them)

If they were legal to own and new production was not excluded, they wouldn't be $10K - Marstar will sell you a Yugo M70 for less than a grand if you've got the right paper.

Hey, the guy above is pretty damned smart - and he can type faster than me

lol

my god do I want some of the prohibs on marstars site.....

I re-watched the end part of the video as he was walking back to see if he was giving a thumbs up or not stating he was more or less OK and just shaken up, but it appears the way he has his hand he may have a hand injury??

So those of you with a Tavor bulpup . . . I was looking at one and couldn't see how you de-#### the thing. I saw other guys handling it, cocking and dry-firing but no one de-cocking it. I'd hate to pay so much for one of those thats been handled so much and dry fired countless times but it does look like a badass rig. One of those guys looked like he wanted to remove it from the line but couldn't figure out how he should do it safely.

Explain how running full auto would cause a detonation? Bad ammo or not, a catastrophic ammo failure in a bullpup means a trip the hospital. I'll pass....

i said stuck firing pin made it go FA. whether it is a FA gun or semi only i don't know. a stuck firing pin could cause a out of battery detonation.

Dry firing a modern firearm does nothing. it is only for rimfire guns, and old shotguns that don't have a return spring.

I'll still be shooting my RFB and DTA.
Do you sell all your cars and walk to work for the rest of your life just because you get in a car accident one day? Nope, hopefully you learn something about your driving or learn to be a little more defensive watching for others and you take the insurance money and buy a car worth 2/3 the value of the one you lost because your insurance company is cheap and screwed you on the value.

I've had a pistol explode in my hands and I didn't sell all my pistols because of it. It was a bad handload and completely my fault, the only thing I did besides eat the cost of the pistol was change the way I use my progressive loader. No more primer feeder attachment to jam up and cause me to double stroke a case under the powder feeder. I am very careful now and it takes me about double the time to load .45auto but it's worth it for the peace of mind.

Being a bullpup makes no difference, these things happen from time to time.
The RFB was designed to direct the energy away from the shooter in the event of a case rupture. The armor they put there to protect the shooter makes it a bit of a pain to check the chamber but it's worth it. I trust it.

He would have had an equally bad day if he was holding any number of different rifles. The important thing is that he seemed unhurt for the most part which shows the bullpup is no more dangerous than any other rifle.

Sorry, not seeing where there was a trip to the hospital involved... guy looked shaken up and had a powder burn on him, and that was about it. I've had worse 'catastrophic failures' with my AR's in the past. In fact, the gun did exactly what it was designed to do, as you could see nothing exploded on the gun.. just the toilet seat popped up to vent the gases out of the chamber. I'm assuming they still have the rubber gasket installed in the magwell since the mag didn't pop out.

Another point to note. This is NOT an F2000, but a converted FA FS2000 (there are no OD F2000's in existance (OD is civilian color only), and no F2000's come off the line with longer barrels). So, I don't know if it was just an ammo failure -- which I'm assuming it was -- or if the guys converting the gun screwed something up. As well, we have no idea what condition this gun was in, nor how many rounds have been put through it. You would hope that they would maintain their guns well, but who knows.

And yes, what scared me the most was the other gun firing FA started at the exact same time the guy with the FS2000 did, and when he dropped the gun and I still heard the FA sound, I was expecting some very bad results!

No matter which way you slice it, whether your hurt or not, in a catastrophic case failure in a bull pup, all the nasty exploding stuff is going to happen right beside your head. CAN ANYONE ARGUE THAT???

It's okay to love Bull-pups, but just because we love something doesn't mean it's perfect, I love my Swiss Arms rifles, but have recently started to feel that the right side charging handle is a detractor to certain drills,I also always felt it's a bit heavy, it's not perfect, I can admit that and I still love the things.

FACT: Bull-Pups have a much higher chance of hurting the shooter during a catastrophic case failure, this doesn't mean you can't admit that it's a detractor to any bull-pup platform and move on while enjoying your rifle...it also doesn't mean that it's a horrible rifle or anything like that. But if some people choose to dislike the idea of an explosion beside there face, that's there business, why try to convince them otherwise, I choose not to shoot bull-pups for an entirely different reason (Horrible triggers) and if I had one would not worried about case failure and hurting myself!

I won't argue that bubba the basement gunsmith will always find ways to make a firearm or it's ammo unsafe.
Looking back over the years I have seen and heard about a several guns blowing up in people's faces.

In every case the firearm or it's ammo had something stupid done to it.

So the lesson here is be careful around bubbaed firearms.
Personally I would trust a military designed and well tested bullpup rifle.

im sure you will produce evidence of this fact ? bullpups are designed with armor in place to prevent the shooter from being injured. i saw a gentleman that had a out of battery on a norinco ar. he looked about as messy as that gentleman also had numb fingers because the mag exploded. had bits of shell in his hand etc. i dont see how an AR or other military rifle is any safer than a bullpup. my RFB has some pretty hefty steel over the chamber and bolt area. the tavor has an aluminum guide way under the plastic where your cheek is. both are more than enough to keep a 7.62 and 5.56 from hurting you badly.

Stop holding the rifle by the magazine. Its inefficient and not a good place for your hands should your rifle detonate.
