Matched sets of rifles...

They were complete jobs, wood & metal, in about '89. The one Gary did is every bit as nice but in 7mm. All are really too nice to take in the field for rough work, so get reserved for more "gentlemanly" hunting, but they do get hunted. Hell, I've even hunted with an H&H in .375, .....there's no pure "safe queens".

Really? You have a Gary Goudy built G33/40? And you haven't posted a picture?!

You heard wrong. Zastava has been around and building weapons since 1853. They are well built, solid rifles. They have been around for a very long time. For example, the Interarms Mark X was a rebadged Zastava M98. It was around over +30 years ago. I believe they are using the same tooling as FN used for the FN M98.

You won't go wrong with the M98

A lot can change in 30 years though.

Several of the men I spoke to claimed that they weren't finished very well and some of the receivers were a bit oblong.

But again, I'm just going off of second-hand information.

I haven't been able to hold one to be able to judge for myself.

has we exchanged pms with maplesugar i m one of those that just got two rifles from or with the serbian stamps and what i stated is they re the same as the one i have in 7X64 except the stamps and the recoil pad.

they re not a sauer nor a blaser : they re working commercial mauser 98 made. the action is rough (nothing new) they dont have the stock of Interarms or Mark X but they re what another quote a working rifle not fancy ... they re coming with working open sights and the stock fits me.

they re not for everybody for sure but im very happy with my rifles.

all the best.

Well yes, at mid $400 new you are almost 1/10th of the price of a Blaser or Sauer, so one can only expect a working rifle.

Let's see combos in light and heavy...........HHHMMMM

Rem 700 Classics in 257 Rob, 35 Whelen and 375 H+H
CZ550 FS in 7X64 and 9.3X62
Rem mod 7 in 260, 358 Win and 350 Rem Mag
Rem mod 700 CDL SF in 260 and 257 Wby (not really light and heavy)
Rem mod 700 CDL in 243, 7mm Ultra and 375 H+H
Ruger mod 77RSI in 243, 250-3000 and 308 (again not really light and heavy)
and several Rem SPS but these are too generic to really call a set

But how about Win mod 95 in 30-40 Krag, 35 Win and 405 Win.
92 Wins in 25-20 and 44-40
94 Wins in 25-35 and 38-55
86 Wins in 33 win and 45-90

A set I would love to put togrther and keep forever and hunt with would be built on the new Win Supergrage in 257 Wby, 300 Wby, 340 Wby,(I have this one) 375 Wby and finally 450 Ack. This is an anything/everything combo which really could be done with just the 300 and 375.

Klaus Hiptmayer built a set for me.
Claw mounts, integral peep sights, mannlicher stocks, oil finish and more.
My choice was .270 and .22 lr as an understudy rifle.
The .270 is gone......the .22 is on our EE.

Matched pairs that I have and use:

Sako L579's in .243 and .308
Brno 21H's in 7x64mm and 8x57JS
Anschutz fullstock carbines in .22 LR and .22 Hornet

And my favourite pair aren't rifles, but shotguns, Browning Citori White lightnings in 16 ga. and .410 bore.

I've got a few matched rifles. Not really light and heavy unless a 250 is light and a 308 is heavy.;)

Can you tell me what scope is on this? I'd like to find one like it for my full stocked Anschutz in .222.

I like the monkey in the pic too.

It would appear to me to be an old Weaver K2.5......not the best optics but tough as a pigs nose.
You can buy the same format scopes in Leupold these days with much better optics in a 1-4X or 1.5-5X and not sure now but they used to offer a 2.5 I think.

Thanks I need a more compact scope. I currently have a 3-9x40 with German post reticle on my carbine I want to make it lighter.

Tazzy that scope looks identical to my Weaver K3.
I have the same Anschutz fullstock rifle as yours but in .22 Hornet, a Leupold 3-9 compact fits it very well and has the right proportions.

Currently have a 7X57 built on an FN Mauser action and having the same gunsmith build me mathced pair in 300 and 375 H&H.
Found the original Sako FN's on CGN a few years ago that both had the stocks bubba'd so restocking and same metal work as the 7X57.
Barrel band swivel, Mod. 70 safety and recessed rear swivel, hope to have them back early in new year.

Outstanding Jimmyjazz - two thumbs up on your rifle, and I'm sure the H&H pair will be excellent too!
