Why can't I own this???

I`m still holding on to hope that the promised `further revisions`of the firearms act will indeed happen and that they will include elimination of the prohib class, sensible classification not based on appearance, removal of magazine limits and attaching the ATT to the license among other things. Fingers crossed.

I remember when I bought my first Glock 19 in 1993. Everybody told me I was making a mistake. Why have 15 rounds and less sight radius when you could have 17 rounds? (the grip on the 19 fit my hand better.) Why waste your cash on a snubby revolver? Longer barreled ones are more accurate? (not really). How times have changed. Don't get me wrong, I am as p!$$#d at the current laws as the next guy. I just find it interesting how views have changed.

Auggie D.

Yup, if I had never sold a firearm I would be 12.3-12.4-12.5-12.6. The only one I really miss is 12.6, I want my Bodyguard Airweight, and stainless Officers, back - I was 20 and lived in Surrey when I bought them, now I'm 45 and live in Victoria and I'm not allowed to buy them? Something is seriously screwed up with that.

Yeah...it's an amazing thing. My restricted .357SIG S&W M&P is smaller in every dimension than my .357mag S&W 581 revolver [prohib...4" barrel]. The M&P holds more rounds and is faster to reload...and its 'barrel length' includes the chamber, so the actual rifled portion is much less than 4". The firearms' power is roughly equal.

The whole prohib/restricted classification is a farce and should be the next thing to get tossed in the trash with the long-gun registry.

I did a dumb thing, sold my H&R M14 to a friend without thinking, and cut myself out of the "converted automatic' group.
Had forever a Ruby Spanish 38, 4", at the back of the safe to be sure to be in 12-6 land.
However lots of new guns coming out with 4.45" barrels, even if they look dumb with 1/2" barrel poking out of the slide. Don't forget you can will your 12-6s to your children, grandchildren, those of us who have them.

They should just change the law so that any handgun with a sight radius equal to or less than 4.2 inches is prohibited.

What?

Hey, here's a question: Every time I read something insanely retarded on CGN, like the "suggestion" provided above, it's always from people in B.C. or Ontario.

What's up with that? What the hell is wrong with you people?

Only if they were manufactured before 1946. - dan

I believe there is a 12(7) clause whereby a spouse can inherit a deceased's prohibs.

We have classes of gun ownership in this country - those who are deemed OK to own 12(6) prohibs, restricted semi/full auto owners, etc. and those who are not. The guns and calibres most suited most to personal defence were the first to go. Why this isn't a matter of outrage beats the hell out of me. The bad guys have no trouble getting anything they want in any calibre or barrel length.

'Grandfathering' is delayed confiscation - period. Needing the government's permission to own ANY gun is totalitarianism. Look at the lessons of history. The US 1968 Gun Control Act is an almost verbatim adoption of the 1938 Nazi Gun Laws. Don't think so? Google it, or check out the site of JPFO (Jews For the Preservation of Firearms Ownership).
We used the same terminology and classes when we began with FACs and licencing. In fairness to Hitler, he inherited them from the Weimar Republik, adding the racial clauses to prohibit Jews from owning firearms.

By dividing us, they control us. Remember Alan Rock's vision of Canada? A state where only the police, army and criminals have firearms.

What are you talking about? ("you have to be an American or a thug" to own one of these) I have a half dozen of these 2" barreled handguns? Whose Criminal Justice System is taking them away from whom?

Man, you sure lost me here.

Matchlock

u have to be an american or a thug who doesnt care about getting caught with it because of Criminal Justice system would rather punish innocent law abiding people for paper crimes and let us be victimized by our govt and the thugs...

You're not alone on this but I feel worse than you do because I sold all my short barreled handguns to finance the 'reinvention' of myself. Figured I could always buy them again once I finished. I was too busy to pay attention to what was going on with C-68. When I got back into shooting I was a little more than upset that I could no longer own the handguns that I used to own. Sadly, this applies to some of the rifles I used to own as well...........ovrec

You and me both, OP. I was busy with university and getting established when C-68 kicked us in the nuts and I didn't even know what that sound was as my future 12(6) endorsement went right over my head. I would own a safe full of 12(6) toys if I had the license.:bangHead:
