Do Norinco 7.62x39 bullets stick to magnet?

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the Norinco 7.62x39 bullet (not the case) will stick to a magnet. I'd like to order some but my range won't allow steel core ammo. I'm hoping that lead core means it will pass the test.

If you are wanting to shoot them at The shooting Edge in Calgary, the answer will be no, you cannot shoot it there. You Can shoot it at The Shooting Center though, or so I am told.
 
It's an outdoor range and I was told that I can use it as long as the bullet does not stick to the magnet so I guess I'm out of luck :(
 
Interesting... surplus 7.62x25 and Norinco non corrosive 7.62x39 stick to the magnet, Norinco 45acp does not.

HUH? did you mean the bullets jacket or the cases jacket? because it seems weird if the bullet jacket is steel, it damages the barrel? Soft steel maybe? LOL reason behind the stickiness is the core not the jacket IMO some one shed some light on this with pictures?

I've cut a bullet in half.
They consist of Lead core and copper coated steel jacket.
Most indoor ranges won't allow any steel projectile to be fired down range.
The cases for these are also consist of a steel material.
 
Its becoming the norm for most ranges, especially indoor. Phoenix doesnt even allow steel cased ammo even if the round is a lead core. Reason i was given was because of the brass salvage they cant have steel cases mixed in with it all.
 
I was told at the Shooting Edge the magnet rule is a guideline. Some of the bullets that are lead cored, with a steel jacket, with a final copper jacket are okay to use even though they still stick to a magnet. It seems it's the steel cored rounds which are the bane of most ranges as they destroy the back drops / silhouettes / etc. I think it was the PPU 7.62x54r I was using which was magnetic but was still fine to use.
 
Probably best to figure out exactly what your round is made out of (google is your friend! Check the surplus headstamps) that you want to use and the exact range guidelines.
 
I really like the norinco 7.62x39 from canam..piercing steel and other objects with steel core is alot of fun but i make sure to stay away from indoor ranges. Here are the effects of norinco 7.62x39 out of my CZ858 around 60 meters.
