I bought the Survivor in 308 last year for deer season. It had been years since I was out hunting and I wanted a new rifle.
I'm a leftie and there isn't a bunch of selection, and besides, the rifle looked cool and it was available in my favourite calibre, 308!
The rifle was purchase new. I think it was from wholesale Sports. I got it in a timely manner, threw a scope on it and headed for the range. 3 out of 10 cartridges fired! I tried another manufacturers ammo. Same deal.
I contracted the Gravel Agency who is the rep for H&R here in Canada. No problem getting an RMa for the rifle. It was sent back, "repaired" and returned. By this time the hunt was over and the rifle was put back in the safe.
I took the rifle out this season with great expectations. I was dissappointed. This time it fired 2 of 10 cartridges, and extracted none. I had to pry out the cartridges with my pocket knife.
I'm very upset. I contracted Gravel again, and again the repair authorization came quickly. They are actuall great to deal with. As for the gunsmithing they are providing, I am not too sure about.
I gotta say I love the rifle. It's relatively light, short and sleek looking.
Now if only I could fire it!
I'll post results of the repairs when I get it back.
Oh, something else. I wanted to leave feedback with customer support at the H&R website, but the only option is to mail it in. I might be missing something, but there aren't too many manufacturers out there that don't have an online comments section anymore.
