While searching for a good G43, K43 I'm trying to get a feel for what these old German autoloaders are worth and I came across this old auction of a nice matching original one. I see that it sold for $1850 back in 08, in the US but for those of you that follow these guns what do you think one like this would be worth these days in Canada?

What if it wasn't all matching but in about the same condition?

Any advice is appreciated. :)

In Canada, they seems to run between $2500-$3500 depend of condition ofc.

there are a lot of factors to consider when buying a g or k43. matching , rebuild , parts gun, East German , post war parts, sporterized , sanded, bluing, parkerizing, scope, mount, etc. $800- $8000.

Ive never seen one for 800 but hes pretty much right Id think. 800 might get you a hacked up sporter. And even repro parts are expensive. American prices have no bearing here at all. importing may be a good option.

Thanks guys and I appologise for that poor post because I forgot the link to the auction.

Here it is http://www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8826684

I realise that the prices vary all over the place depending on the gun. That's why I picked the example that I did because that is for the most part what I'm looking for, all matching and in that condition or better. I'm not really interested in mismatched or sporterised at this time. Maybe once I get a nice collector grade one then I'll look for a shooter.

So with that said what would you guys think the example that I have would be worth in todays market?

Do any of you guys know anyone selling a decent G/K 43 these days?

Unless you have a time machine, 2008 was almost 5 years ago.

Back in the 50's, they sold for $39.95.

If you imported one from the USA, I don't know what would happen to the 10 round mag at Customs - Confiscated?

Ok lets say THAT gun was for sale today, what do you guys feel would be a fair price for it or one like it? As far as the 10 round mag goes Im not sure what to do about that. I'll probably try and buy one without the mag and just buy one up here that's already been moded.

Bang on for pricing. I have seen two spoters in recent years close to that $800 mark - one was even less. For a relatively good one, probably that $2500+ range and that $8000 top range would include authentic snipers and other rare variations.

With the cost of these rifles, sometimes it is cheaper to order from the US and bother with the exporting/importing.

I am surprised by the sudden interest in these guns. I have a G-43 that my dad bought in 1970. It is in great condition but I let Epps mess with the gas system and now it has intermittent issues with cycling the action properly.

I know mine is a sporterized one but it has matching electro pencil serial numbers. I take it to the range every now and then to annoy the fudds. They don't beleive the germans had a semi during WWII.

There is a member here who is supposed to have a medium to large collection of them. Don't suppose he would like to chime in??

I snagged one missing its magazine from a dealer out west about 5 years ago. $525 delivered to my door.

FahrvergnĂĽgen!

Now it's your turn to tell us! What you would pay for a G/K43 as fresh (and exciting!) as the day it was issued to the Wehrmacht in 1944-1945?

Does anyone know what the "X" is for on the receiver? My references tell me that the VOPO's used a "star burst" stamp and the pics aren't good enough for a real good look at the receiver stamps.

The X and the Star Burst are Vopo postwar stamps and usually show up on the left hand side of the receiver.

Of interest though, most Vopo G/K43's have excellent bores, just like the East German and Czech postwar refurb K98's.

Thats a nice one for sure but I'm not really interested in anything with any post war markings at this time.

Now back to my original question, I'll try a different approach...

Lets say this was mine http://www.gunauction.com/search/displayitem.cfm?itemnum=8826684 , or any of you guy's K43 and it was to be put up for sale here in Canada. What would you all think is fair market value, or, what would be your asking price for it?

Thanks
