I know that about a year ago, Japan lifted it's ban on the export of military technology. Does this mean that there would be the possibility of getting a semi-only Howa Type 89?

I know they'd be pricey (¥338,800 as of 2005, according to Wikipedia, about $4k today), but I think it'd be really cool to have one.

Who sells Howa in Canada? I see some on IRUNGUNS website. I've read reviews on rifles made by Howa and they seem like a decent gun with realistic prices.

Would be very cool but then we would have to listen to everyone whine that its more front heavy than their M4gery.

Being front heavy could certainly be a concern but...
M4gery = Restricted

Howa 89 = possibly non-restricted, although very expensive = limited market

It was sarcasm;) And if they put a longer non-res barrel on the Howa....;)

Howa made AR180's under contract to Armalite. The guns were shipped to America and then they were sold. They had nothing to do with sales.
