Don't mean to get you guys too excited as it is highly illegal here, but here's a southern perspective on it.

Great video for sure. Man that porting sure tames that muzzle jump! I didnt realise until he climbed the stand he had only one arm. Cool to see he is not letting his handicap take away from his passions.

I didn't realize till I read this and went back and looked! Great to see for sure

I admire people who overcome their handicaps. However, there is no excuse for extremely bad/unsafe gun handling and technique. I will not even go into my opinion of using 210gr Silvertips for hunting when there are so many more better bullet choices on the market.

1) The shooter puts his finger into the trigger guard the moment he picks up his revolver!
2) He already has his finger on the trigger when he cocks the hammer! And then he states that he is a Marine! Is this "finger on the trigger" an indication of their training?
3) He shoots SA the way one is supposed to shoot DA; having the first joint on the trigger, not the first pad.

Pity about this, otherwise it may have been something worth wile watching!

Great video- it made my morning! Thanks for sharing.

RSA1, perhaps the guy used to be right handed before he lost his right arm, and might even have limited use of his left. I imagine that hes still working on things.

In Alberta you can "handgun hunt" grouse with a pellet pistol. Here is my CO2 .22 cal and a grouse target I practice on. (pencil represents neck and quarter the head)

And in Alberta you can hunt game with this handgun.

The fed. gun gurus don't classify it as a "restricted weapon", so most people say "its not a handgun". However in the US they classify it a handgun, it says on the box its a handgun and to me it fulfills my definition of a handgun more so than a rifle.

who says he has to shoot DA that is a way of pulling the shot

Pretty cool he is out doing his thing the best he can just like the rest of us. Too bad he shows himself climbing the treestand with the gun under his arm (maybe a holster?), AND sitting in the tree with no safety harness.

I don't care what America call it...that is NOT handgun, no where close...they consider short shotguns a handgun too.

They look cool and I am sure they are fun but they do not shoot as fast/accurately as a rifle nor as fast/easily as a handgun using two hands. They are long, heavy and awkward to aim.

sorry but i do not agree when people call mare's leg a "handgun" ......
it is not classified as Hand gun so should just called it rossi, mare's leg, or whatever people call it but handgun. It probablly says "attention dealer this is handgun" just to not get sued in the future. Just like those Seat/storage things for ATV that says " warning"do not sit" And bottom line, it just confuses me when someone says "handgun" that is non restricted.. one can call it a handgun but on forums it will hell confuse many pistol and rifle shooters. Maybe Clarify of saying "non restricted Rossi HAND GUN" so people know what we are dealing with.

Lets not complicate this issue like your last post the "didnt get to shoot deer with Handgun" because many will miss understand and go on a debate again. But yes that mare's leg is perfect for hiking, would love to carry it on my back pack for good ol hiking with my dog.

"""The Mare’s Leg (aka Mare’s Laig; both sometimes spelled without the apostrophe) was the name given to a customized shortened rifle by Steve McQueen’s character on the television series Wanted: Dead or Alive (1958–1961). McQueen’s character was named Josh Randall, and the gun has also been referred to as a Winchester Randall, or a Randall Special.[2] "Mare's leg" is now a generic term for a Winchester Model 1892 (or modern derivative) with a shortened barrel and stock.[3]"""

Lighten up bud, down south they're actually allowed to use their handguns for things besides games on ranges and maybe they're not quite as anal about using proper IPSC and cowboy action techniques for hunting. ;)

Thats fine you can agree with the people in the know in Ottawa who classify things as they see fit. But I think there are qualities or features that define a gun.

Shoot from the shoulder, rifle yes
Handgun and ranch-hand No

Attach a sling and carry over your shoulder, rifle yes
Handgun and ranch-hand No

Carry in a hip holster, handgun and ranch-hand yes
Rifle No

Chambered in .357, 45 colt, 44 rem mag, Handgun and Ranch-hand Yes
Rifle not normally but occasionally

Shoot with two hands extended in front of you, Handgun and Ranch-hand yes
Rifle , No

NOT THIS stuff AGAIN??? If you don't want to be involved in a discussion thats ok just don't!

Duffy, Stupid american laws call it a handgun and stupid canadian laws call it a longun....in this case I prefer stupid Canadian laws as I'm sure do you.

About buddy's trigger disapline, He's obviously got it pointed at something he wishes to destroy so why the worry about having his finger inside the guard? He's touching the trigger on target with the hammer down, then cocks the hammer with his finger off the trigger and then comes back and makes the shot the whole time with the gun on target. Seems safe to me.
I've noticed that with my single action revolvers I due tend to spend a bit more time with my finger inside the guard while manipulating the gun because of the the ergonomics and the fact that it won't fire without cocking....a DA will fire but needs a long heavy pull. Keeping it in a safe direction goes a long way too.

Good video.

short shotguns are AOW or SBS down south AOW is a $5 register and SBS is a $200 tax stamp
