Thinking about picking up a t1/h1 for my shotgun but can't decide between the 2 moa or 4 moa. For anyone that has had a chance to play with both is there that much of a difference in terms of target acquisition speed? Potentially thinking of using it later on with a carbine but no magnifier and never at distances greater than 200m. Thanks in advance!

For shotgun 4 MOA would be fine but if you intend to put on a Carbine later that may change things. I prefer a smaller dot for the carbine so you may want to consider the 2.

The 4 moa one is pretty fine on lower power settings. I haven't tried the 2 moa one but I really like my 4 moa T1 on my AR.

I'd get the 2 and turn it to max if you want it to appear bigger. What kind of shooting are you doing with the shotgun?

Actually it's quite hard to tell the difference between the 2 moa and 4 moa dot.

I've looked through both and there was no way I could tell, and I have 20/15 vision.

yeah I found that to be true as well. The other day I was in a store and held up a 2 and a 4 (as I have a 4 on my carbine and was curious) In all honesty it just seemed that on the same power setting the brightness was slightly different between the two but the dot seemed the same.

I don't find the dot size makes much of a difference IMO. With a 4MOA H1 on my Swiss Arms, I was able to shoot 2" 100 yard groups, about the same as my buddy with a 2MOA T1 on his AR.

Well right now it would be a HD type shotgun...I'm pretty good with the irons (gun has ghost rings) but I don't have the best vision and wanted something for even quicker acquisition. Eventually I'd like to try some form of competition like 3-gun if anything ever develops here in Manitoba. I've tried to read as much on the subject and can't come to a clear conclusion...since I'm not able to compare the two side by side I thought I'd ask those of you who have.

Thanks for the responses so far guys! So given that they are both the same price, If you guys had the opportunity to buy either..which would yo choose. Again thanks in advance.

Which ever one was in stock ;)

Go with the 4moa, lots of us sponsors should have them in stock. Would be a good Christmas present :D

Ok the 4's have it...that's what I was leaning towards anyways, glad to know there isn't much diff. BTW Daren I picked up an Aimpoint PRO from you guys last month...sweet optic and awesome price.

I can make solid hits at 500m on a 20" gong using a 4MOA T-1.

Damn thats alot better than I will ever do it :) I get what you mean though. I wasn't overly concerned with accuracy at distance...I mean that's not what RDS's are intended for anyways, besides at 200m + you are holding over the target so the notion that the smaller dot is more "accurate" isn't necessarily true. I was more concerned about the 2 moa being slower to target. In the end I'm just gonna get whatever is in stock. Thanks for the input though.

I'm currently running two of the original T-1 red dots and love them.
That said, I would like to try the new 2MOA T-1 and see if I like it.

From what I have read on other forums most people like them pretty well but not enough to switch. BTW how is your Blackfeather build coming along?

rule on Thumb on red dot sight, 4moa or larger moa usually has a better or perfect dot circle. my 6moa CMORE has more defined dot than my aimpoint 2moa

That's another thing I have read as well. All I have experience with are 2 MOA dots (Aimpoint Pro & Vortex Sparc)...curious to see the nicer dot 4 moa or larger provides

That's what I've read.

My Blackfeather build is moving forward http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?815980-My-Blackfeather-RS-has-arrived

I'm going to try this new T-1 mount on the Blackfeather.

That's on my PWS Mk112 rested on a solid surface. Prone I make the hits about 80% of the time and free standing its about 25%. I'm thinking about throwing a 3x twist off mount behind it to see what I get.

The holdover at 200-500m is pretty much minimally perceptible. If you BZO your rifle to 50 the round will pass zero at 50 and 250m (approximately) with about two inches of added height in between and then it doesn't drop too quickly after that, from what I have seen. With my PWS Mk112 I have to hold it about 4MOA (1 dot) high for holdover to make the hits. So the centre of the dot is actually about 6MOA above the target... maybe even a bit higher... I don't have MOA vision, but its the ball park to start with. It's the wind that'll mess you up with such a light round at that distance. Just remember to keep current with your BUIS too!
