Winnipeg police have located a man who disappeared after a hunting trip in southeastern Manitoba in mid November.

Norman Brad Lambert, 46, disappeared on Nov. 15 in Marchand, in southeastern Manitoba.

Family said he was heading out on a hunting trip in his black pickup truck but never returned.

Police asked residents and business owners throughout Manitoba and Ontario to check any buildings such as outdoor sheds, abandoned structures and garages on their properties to help aid officers in the investigation.

A team of volunteers and rescue crews searched the Sandilands Forest near Marchand by foot and air but couldn’t locate Lambert.

Police said Lambert finally got in touch with his family on Saturday, Dec. 8.

His father Norman told CTV News he’s relieved his son was found. He said he doesn’t know the full story yet, but he believes his son’s skills as a hunter may have saved his life.

“He may have killed a deer or rabbit for food, survived that way,” said Norman.

The RCMP missing persons unit continues to investigate.

I wonder why they're being so secretive of his absence details. Abducted by aliens is my guess, and probably his story. :D

just listened to some news on this guy.
He was suffering from depression and taking meds, of which they where left at home.
Maybe that is why he was depressed , the meds where what was making him sic and thus heading out into the bush was a healing experience.
Then again, maybe there was a sweet young California blonde up there keeping him warm :)
None the less , Good to Hear he has been found...
Rob

Think he just said screw society for a while eh lol

Regardless I'm curious to hear his story. not to poke suspicion, it just might be intresting.

Articles in today's Winnipeg Free Press and Winnipeg Sun don't shed any light as to what happened other than someone picked him up walking down a road and that he appeared to have lost weight.

One thing for sure, there's far more to this story than whats been told thus far, as nothing about this incident thus far indicates it is a simple lost in the bush happening. A story to be continued for sure.

WINNIPEG -- A hunter who turned up after being lost in the southeast Manitoba bush for three weeks says thoughts of his family and the hundreds of people who were looking for him kept him going.

"(It was) my wife and my son and the knowledge that the search and rescue community and people I don't even know were out looking," said Brad Lambert, who turned up safe and sound Saturday after 21 nights in the bush.

"That means a great deal."

Lambert, 46, had been last seen Nov. 15 when he stopped to buy supplies for a deer hunting trip southeast of his Winnipeg home.

Things went off the rails when a "wrong turn on the wrong trail" left him stuck and stranded in the middle of nowhere.

When he didn't return home, the search began.

Police and hundreds of volunteers scoured the densely forested area. Aircraft were called in.

Residents and business owners throughout Manitoba and Ontario were asked to check any buildings such as outdoor sheds, abandoned structures and garages on their properties.

Meanwhile, Lambert said he did what he could to survive. Although he had no food and ate nothing during the entire ordeal, he was able to melt snow for drinking water.

And he did his best to aid searchers.

"Daytime was spent building signal fires, walking through an expansive marsh trying to flag aircraft with my blaze orange hunting gear and trying to be noticed," he said.

"I could see some planes. At night there were some aircraft as well.

"Unfortunately, I guess they couldn't see me. It had to be a 10-20 square kilometre open meadow with bluffs -- it would be extremely difficult to locate from the air one person.

"At times, it was very disheartening."

Eventually, Lambert realized he had to set out.

He thrashed his way through heavy bush until he came to a trail, then followed the trail until it came to a road.

"I was found on the road."

Lambert says he feels fine, although he is tired.

"No ill effects. I'm eating, I'm hydrated and just enjoying being with my family."

He said he just wants everyone who helped with the search to know how thankful he is.

"It was a very emotional time and it still is. I'm just grateful to everyone involved."

21 days with no food? Yaaaaa right.
He had to have had a hunting tag so he was looking for deer anyway & regardless of how crappy a hunter you are, after that long your going to stumble across something.

So he walked, found a trail and than a road..... To bad he never thought of doing that about 20 days ago.

At least he's home n safe.

Hhhmmm....21 days and no food? An expansive marsh and he did not think to knaw on cat-tail roots or shoot any migratory or shorebird to survive??
Must be some kind of record.

Maybe he lived off of whooping cranes and does not want to admit it.............;)
