I voted Maybe, for many of the reasons already posted here. We can't let it go, we have to keep fighting. One bit at a time. I've been thinking about this ever since Friday, and here's my thoughts so far:
1) Now is not the time for a knee-jerk reaction. Hopefully it doesn't happen in the US, but that's looking more grim now too.
2) The NRA and such in the US won't go down easy, but they're going to have to bend. Expect it to start with Canadian-style storage regs, probably mag capacities too. There's too many AR's for them to die out just yet.
3) IF things keep going wonky down south, don't count out the possibility of another civil war. The US military has already been drilling on 'crowd control' and other urban combat measures aimed at action on US soil in the wake of the "1%" rallies.
4) I'm not exactly a Doomsday Prepper, but I'm looking into it a LOT more closely. For starters, now is the time to take advantage of no registration. I just might have to have more than one of each semi-auto I own now, and probably a bolt-action or single-shot for every caliber I already have in semi-auto. Hedging my bets...
5) We can't get lax. Harper isn't that popular right now, and there's always an election coming whether we want it or not. A Liberal or NDP majority (ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, so don't start!) could have serious repercussions for us.
6) Where are our national orgs? Why isn't our message being spread in the media? We need to get word out to the masses. My Firearms Journal is nice, but I want to see it in Doctor's offices! Where are our prime-time or major newspaper ads? Surely the Post doesn't censor advertising space? Are they really that blatant? (I ask, because I truly don't know- as long as it's paid for and such, would they deny such a thing?) We need to educate the public, in greater numbers than we are.
And I guess that sums it up. Anyone who wants to discuss any of these points or ideas, or the poster/chart I threw together (that I'm working on improving with CGN'ers input) in the General Discussion thread, please feel free to PM me.
