Happy Holidays From Wanstalls!!!

Sorry guys I must say something here.

As far as I know Hanukkah ended about a week ago and all Muslims holidays ended about 1+ months ago. So who are we trying to be polite to by saying happy holiday? Who are we trying to be politically correct to? Can anyone give me a clue?

It is Chrismas nothing else. So Merry Chrismas to one and all

In a few years time when there is another holiday other than Chrismas at this time I would be more than happy to say happy holiday but for now it is Merry Christmas!!!

Just venting because the world is going mad

And what holiday are you celebrating Mr. Atheist Sir?

Christmas ! :D

Atheist's don't exist. Atheism by definition, neither professes nor denies God. What we are seeing are left wing anti's proselytizing in favor of a replacement religion less threatening to their political views. A proselytizing, self professed Atheist is an oxymoron; or maybe a moron, whatever.

Merry Christmas everyone !

Thanks for all the products, i wish every one a safe and happy Christmas,Holidays (Christmas is after all a Holiday) and a great new year.

You have no God and no holiday not even a heavan to go to.

Sorry this is boiling my blood

I'm celebrating a secular Yule and the winter solstice, Mr. BelievesInMagicalNonsense.

Here's a fact, (I know that believers in magic don't like facts, but...) Yule, or a winter solstice celebration, was started literally 1000s of yrs before christianity even came into existence. No christian scholars seriously argue that jesus was born any time around Dec.25. It is historical FACT that this celebration was, basically, hijacked by the christian church. Ergo, Christians don't get to exclusively "own" this holiday.

And ya, that's right, I have no god or gods. As a rational grown-up I recognize that I live in a natural world governed by forces of nature...vs. believing that I live in a magical world governed by gods, ghosts, devils, demons or angels.

But if you believe in your "half-man/half-god who rose from the dead" savior, then merry Xmas to you. And I really don't care if you wish me "happy holidays" or "Yuletide greetings" or "merry Xmas".

Oh and BTW, could you pls explain the holy connection between Jesus and that Xmas tree in your living room? You know, that pagan symbol and pre-Christian tradition?

Wow, calling me a "moron" (thinly veiled), what a clever argument ad hominem. Congratulations on your razor wit.
BTW, I'll put my education and intelligence up against yours any day.

Atheism is indeed non-belief in that for which there is no evidence of existence. For example, I dont believe in Poseidon or the god of Abraham or santa claus. What we naturalists (a far better term) believe in is based on fact, observation, evidence, scientific investigation. And yes, we do try to get others to embrace reason and rationality vs. magic and mysticism.

Suggested reading for the holidays: The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan, or Letter to a Christian Nation by Sam Harris, or The God Delusion by Richard Dawkins, or God Is Not Great by Christopher Hitchens. Enjoy.

Oh ya, I do, but no one should remain silent in the face of dogmatism.

And again, happy holidays or merry Xmas or whatever suits you!

If people are offended by Merry Christmas then I am offended by Hanukah and Ramadan. I demand that Hanukah now be referred to as the Candle Holiday and Ramadan be referred to as the Fasting Holiday. I also find Chinese New Year to be racially exclusive and demand it now be called Second New Year.

If your going to be offended, be offended by the fact that Wanstall's simply tried to say enjoy this time and it turned into a fight. I am "atheist" and I don't care what it is called. Every day should be enjoyed with loved ones.

If you go to the start of this thread, it was the religious folks who became offended that Wanstalls did something friendly/neighborly by saying "happy holidays". The non-religious seem fine with whatever holiday greeting you wish to use. It's not a religious Xmas for me, but it's fine by me if it is for you.

BTW, don't christians refer to this time as the "Xmas holidays" as well? So what's the problem with "happy holidays"?

I'm tired of having to bend over backwards to not offend every other culture and religion that comes into Canada and yet at the same time I am told that the culture that Canada is based on is so offensive to some people that we dare not speak it's name.

By the way, I am an immigrant myself and an agnostic but I love this great country and I am sick of Canadians having to apologise for their history and culture while it gets trampled under the boot of political correctness.

Merry Christmas

Ya, again, no one here acted offended other than those who say that "merry Xmas" is the only acceptable phrase. The point made by others is that the holiday isn't religious for everyone, and that "happy holidays", etc. is also just fine. NO ONE is asking you or anyone to bend overbackwards or apologize for any history or culture. The intolerance is coming from the "merry Xmas" crowd, not the other way around. Your righteous indignation is misplaced here...

Wanstalls was only trying to wish everyone well over the holiday season.

Many Religions spread out over centuries that pre-dated christianity...that use alot of the same 'Holy' dates. Same stories....and alot have a savior.
...Hmmmmm?

Too much knowledge easily accessed these days. History is out there. Everything is not what they teach, either they can't explain it, are afraid too or it will change who we are.

I hope everyone Enjoyed the Solstice.
I like the fact that other people get me a few days off.

Live long and prosper.

Happy Holidays.

I'm Christian, Merry Christmas. Don't offend me with your Happy Holiday crap.

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical, liberal minority and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

So as a christian, you proffess to uphold a pagan tradition co-opted by churches... Huh. Before it was condemmed by christian academics/apologists - and still is to the more biblically inclined factions.
How dare someone wish you a 'happy holidays' ~ the root word, being Holy Days. Try looking up something with more substance than a christmas carrol, before you revert to some crass faux news talking point.

Strangley enough my Asian and East Indian customers always wish me a Merry Christmas but it's the Vancouver lawyer types that get in a huff about it
