Here is the video I recently stumbled into:

www.youtube.com/watch?v=43Q_LfbFc8M&feature=youtube_gdata_player

First of all, this is the first video that actually shows this rare rifle in details (including full disassembly and reasembly). Sorry, it is all in Russian but ... is better than nothing.
Also, during the video, gum says that Canada acquired 200 of new AN-94. Who could of purchase it? Why? Does it mean that there is a chance to actually see a semi-version of AN-94 in Canada?

JTF-2 are using them when they go to do special ops in other countries. They want to use something than an AR to blend in. Just a guess. Not factual.

I thought I saw it at marstars but I think it said out of stock or pre-order or something. I could be wrong I have short term memory.

This could be possible. When some CF's train to prepare for Afghanistan and such they try to role play to the best they can and by having firearms used can capture that role alittle bit better.

The JTF-2 biggest accomplishment was a failed bank robbery in Calgary. What a joke. I guess they did shoot a few Haitians. No wonder they keep their identities a secret.

I'm doubtful the AN-94 is even being manufacturered anymore.

The AK-12, AEK-97x, ADS amphibious rifle and updated versions of the AK-74M and AK-100 series seem to be what's being used or under consideration by Russian special forces.

Maybe the AN-94 is still in limited service somewhere but it doesn't appear that they'll be getting any more.

Yeah but you would use the most firearm the enemy would have, and AK's are a dime a dozen. Your more likely to encounter them, or hell an enfield then an AN-94.
