(READ for SPEED updated) How long does a Restricted Transfer take in BC Currently?

it didn't work out for me. The lady told me that they have 500 applications per day and there are only 3 of them (supposedly there were 14). So they are understaffed and backlogged. Currently they are working on applications sent on aug 10-17.

2-4 more weeks wait time for me. :(

Funny thing is if I call the hotline they know my files and they know that I have a transfer pending, the lady at bc cfo office told me that I'm not even in the system yet. Weird.

The lady told me that they have 500 applications per day...

There were only 23,120 people who took the restricted course for all of Canada in all of 2011. There's no way they are getting 500 LTATT applications per day.

Maybe they are getting 500 applications for all ATTs, ATCs, PALs, and transfers in a day. But even that seems too high. Transfers would be the bulk of it. And there were only 78,000 transfers in 2012 Q2. With BC having about 17% of restrsicteds/prohibs, that works out to just over 200 per business day.

I got my stats from here: http://www.rcmp.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/facts-faits/index-eng.htm

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. They have not given us a decent explanation for these delays.

She's f*cking with you aps, next time you go in there, audio record your conversation somehow,

They (2 employees other than the one who helped me) literally had their fingers up their arses when I went there. Reclining in office chair sipping coffee and browsing the internet... Like wtf? Don't you have 500 applications a day to be catching up on? Simply retarded

I just called the hotline, apparently my LTATT is done, probably in the mail inbound to my address.

So on Friday I wasn't even in the system and on Monday my LTATT is done.

It's funny business they do in that office. 2 weeks wait time for me in total (and a visit to the office)

figured this was the best place to ask:

I got my LTATT issued Sept 28, and on Oct 1st I placed an order online for a restricted from one of the CGN sponsers.

My question is: since the seller is initiating the transfer...will I be able to track the progress of the transfer via my profile on the CFC website ? So far, 10 days after ordering it, the CFC website says "no registration applications were found", but I contacted the seller and they assured me it has been initiated. Would this information only be made available to the sellers CFC profile ?

Hate not knowing whats going on.

My understanding is that only new registrations show up online. Transfers don't show up on line at all.

Ok...just so I've got this straight...since the firearm would already be registered to the seller, it won't show up online as a new registration in my profile since they are just transferring an existing registration to me ?

Here is my status for my LTATT and STATT for comparision:

Background:
1) First Restricted Weapon Purchase (No previous ATT's)
2) Gun purchased through local vendor (They helped with filling out forms )

Wait Times:
1) Gun Purchased Sept 4
2) LTATT arrives in mail Sept 24 ( 3 Weeks minus 1 day )
3) STATT still has not arrived, called twice to no avail ( 5 weeks plus 2 days to date )

This process is now taking longer than the RPAL application. I don't understand why we need to have a ATT to tranport the gun from the store to my home. I hope nothing goes wrong with it as I would need a short term to take it back or get it serviced.

Do I now have to wait to register it as well?

Just thought I would add my experience here too. I started a private transfer on Tuesday, Oct. 9 and it is still not approved. I purchased a restricted from a local gun store on Monday, Oct. 15, and they called me yesterday to say it was complete and I could come pick it up. I already have my ltatt and have several other restricteds, with the last purchase being about a year ago. I called today and was told BC transfers are taking about 4 weeks right now.

I faxed in a LTATT application on Monday, Aug 27. I'm just going to wait and see what happens, and not phone them.

I'll let you know how long mine takes. I'm in BC. It's not a transfer, just an ATT application.

Just to follow up on this, my LTATT was issued on September 27th, exactly one month after I applied.

Now I'm waiting for a restricted transfer from a retail store and it has been 17 days so far.

My experience so far, Daughter and I both passed test for restricted, already had non, I sent in my tests and info, my daughter waited 3 weeks to do hers, 2 weeks later she got her's on Dec. 1, I called the next day to see why mine was not done, they said they could not get ahold of me to do interview, I know this is not true, call display and I google all unknowns, anyway it was mailed to me Dec. 7. Same day we were in Vancouver, bought daughter a 357, but we didn't have an ATT, so had to wait on that, 3 days later we sent in our ATT info, with copy of our membership, same envelope. Store called yesterday to say hers was ready to ship. So that's 11 days, I still hadn't heard about mine, so called about my ATT, they said they don't have a club membership for me, it was sent clipped to mine, just like my daughter's, same envelope, so faxed it and had them email my ATT, called store, no go, still no registration. What the hell, I'm 51, been married 30 years, 1 impaired charge 35 years ago, own my own buissiness. Daughter is 27, single, has called police 4 times on an ex in the last 6 months, non restricted liscence application she had to put down treated for drug use, obviously no rhyme or reason to who gets what when.

I called the firearms office to get ahold of the BC CFO to apply for my lttatt on Nov 14th. I already had a range membership.

The BC office was busy, so I was passed onto the alberta CFO's office. We did the app over the phone, and I emailed a scan of my range membership to the alberta office.
I was told they would email me a copy of the ltatt when it was completed.

On Dec 10th, I called in to see what was up. She checked that they had all my info, she said alberta can now process the ltatt themselves and to wait 10 minutes and I'd have it in my email.
5 minutes later, I had my ltatt.

On the 12th, I ordered a restricted rifle from frontier - haven't seen a ship notice yet.
On the 17th, I went to wolverine's site to order a cz 858 parts kit and somehow ended up with a parts kit and a GSG 22 pistol and a spare mag in my shopping cart - no ship notice yet.

So, two restricted firearms waiting transfer now. I'll update once something ships :)

edit: this is my first ltatt and first restricted
double edit: I completed the pal/rpal course in sept. I have classmates from the course who have not recieved their PAL's yet

Wow, stuff is all over the place with the BC CFO office!
I called them via the Miramichi number and BC extension to apply for my LTATT on November 30th, ended up talking to someone at Miramichi who took my information, she said they were helping out with BC's backlog, faxed my range membership.
I hadn't heard anything so called on December 12th, same number, same extension, this time talked to someone at Alberta CFO, she told me the LTATT hadn't been processed yet but it was emailed to me the next day, December 13th.
During the phone call I found out that the transfer of a consigned gun (so personal to personal) had not been initiated. It was supposed to be started on December 7th, so I got a hold of the store and they submitted the paperwork on December 13th and I have a reference number.
I bought another pistol on December 15th and the paperwork for the transfer (dealer to personal this time) was sent on December 17th. I was told that having my LTATT in place already may speed things up. Now I wait.
I suspect the dealer one will come through first but we'll see. I'll give Miramichi a call on Friday to see how things are going :D

This is my first RPAL, first restricted purchases.

Thanks for the tip about checking online about registration of a new gun, I'm going to check right now!

Couldn't find anything on line...oh, I see your post below, that's why!

Edit: I was saying that i've read that the RCMP registration page doesnt list anything for a few weeks after someone has received the restricted firearm because the system is slow. But I cant find the source where I read it.. maybe someone else can chime in who's in the know

I swear to god that the universe is telling me I shouldn't be a gun owner....

First gun I bought I had on hold until my RPAL came in, the day it did I called them to initiate the transfer, they forgot and didn't submit the paperwork until 6 days later.
Second one I bought last Saturday evening. The store told me they would submit the paperwork Monday. I called today to get my reference number..."oh, it looks like we didn't call that in, I'll do it right now". So another 6 day delay.
So it would seem that the BC CFO office isn't my only hold up....
Arrrggghhhhhhh, so incredibly frustrating!

There's a lesson here though, from now on I will be calling not only the BC CFO to make sure they're doing their job, but the gun stores as well to make sure they're doing theirs!

It turns out my address is listed correctly, but my postal code was off by the last number in the RCMP database Can't wait to find out monday (if the are open) if thats what has held my xfers back
edit: oddly enough, my LTATT has no postal code attached to it. So, WIN i guess.

Wow, you would think that their database would automatically correct postal codes...

faxed in a copy of my range membership for a LTATT on dec.21 and recieved it by mail today , so 10 days over the holiday is pretty good.
