I took my Norc SKS out today for the first time since probably last winter. I forgot how awesome this little piece of chicom steel is. I'm not sure what other people's experiences have been with the Norinco SKS, but mine was fantastic right out of the box. Considering my mediocre shooting ability, the fact that I can fairly consistently hit a small gong at 300 metres is pretty freaking good and speaks volumes about this rifle.

I have close to 1100 rnds of czech surplus through this one now. Still shoots and functions as good as the day it fired its first cartridge.

On a side note, I can no longer mount my go-pro cam that close to a steel target. I'm still picking bullet fragments out of the protective case.

Haha awesome hat buddy and nice shooting!

I'm rockin a goofy hat as well while out shooting in the snow!

Muwahahaha M44 so much fun!

Nice shooting! The one that looks like it punched through the plate probably just twisted the plate and some fragments carried on through, making it look like the projectile punched through.

I can barely see those targets let alone hit it with a rifle. I would need a scope

The plate was obstructed by the front sight. I dropped the elevation on the rear sight to 250 instead of 300 and that allowed me to aim slightly low on the target so I could see the plate just peeking above the front post. I guess the money I spent on laser eye surgery was well worth it lol.

I didn't hit all the time, probably 3 out of 5 fairly consistently. The last 15 rounds in the vid were shot back to back (with loading pauses in between 5 rounds). It was my best string of hits.

I had my cousin spotting for me for the initial shots to gauge where the rounds were going. I was very surprised with the rifle. This is the first time I had it out to that distance and did not have high hopes for it.

Looking through the spotting scope at the target while my cousin was shooting, I could actually see the bullet and air displacement trail behind the bullet as it flew. It was pretty wild to watch.

Perry...Agent "P" x3 on loving the hat! M'boy is a Phineas n' Ferb fan, and of his shows, it's my fav!

...I'm the SKS fan of the house! 300yds over open irons is fine shootin'! No one has brought an SKS to an "F" class tourney, but you have demonstrated they can reach out and touch western imperialist pig at 300 without issue!

I haven't fired the one Santa left me under the tree (Chinese) yet, but I have cleaned off the cosmo.

There is a make shift range out in the bush near my house and they are 150 and 200 yards away. I am happy to hit the one target at 150m. I thought that was good. The gong at my bush range is small about 10 x 10 inches.

Ahh...
The ridel of steel!
I am so glad that you posted this awesome video. Showing that the little 7.62x39mm round is not only accurate but also powerful out to 300 meters to rings that gong.
Oh how I love it when the metal sing's that song ;)

20/20 but that is nearly 3 football fields away!!!! How big are the targets?

If I had to guess, maybe 16" wide by 20" or so long. There are three gongs there. There are 2 large ones, and then the middle one I was shooting at. They are at EESA, so maybe if a member in the know sees this post, he/she will know the actual dimensions. The small plate is no bigger than a torso.
