Is this acceptable for a "custom" job?

Well after a bit of run around I just received a Remington 700 action that I had barreled and chambered in .260 and trued up. I also had a larger bolt knob installed. The barreled action looks fine, but I noticed the bolt handle has a rather large burr sticking out where it meets the knob which put a small cut in my finger before I noticed it. It is also pretty far off center.

My question is should I complain and send it back or file the down the burr and just accept the off centered"ness". I'm looking for opinions, it did cost me about $1500 after tax for everything I had done.

Here are some pics, not very clear but I think you can see what i'm getting at.

Send it back. When I pay for custom work, I expect perfection.

That is exactly what I think as well.

You paid for it to be PERFECT..........that slop of garbage looks like someone with no idea what they are doing did the work and is now flipping you the bird going HA HA SUCKER.

If whomever did the work doesn't fix that for you, I'd say by all means say their name or business so we can all tell everyone DON'T GO THERE.

How about pictures for the rest of the work ,I'm curious as to what the rest looks like , the crown the chamber the stamping on the barrel etc.

Btw the bolt work is not what it should be I would contact the smith and see what his intentions are.

Yeah that's poor workmanship. And the fact it's that sharp that it cut you shows how much he didn't proof his work.

Send It back and tell them to kindly sort it. And hopefully you will be getting some better quality of work. Any chance of knowing who did this work...? Just for reference.

Hope it turns out better :)

I wont say who it was until they get back to me. I had a muzzle brake put on but my tools are at a buddies house so I can't take it off, but from what I can see the crown looks ok, we'll see what I can around to shooting it. I'll try to get some pics of that once I get the brake off.

Here's some pics of the bolt face, included in the price was $200 for "action work" I probably should have asked what that included...it does seem like the bolt face is machine but I thought the lugs would be polished/trued also? This is my first 700 so I'm not too sure what to look for.

Looks like they had the shop apprentice do his first bolt handle...........

That is unacceptable workmanship.........should not have left the shop in that condition.........send it back to be re-done properly...........

They should be compensating you since you sustained an injury on their shoddy workmanship............;)
