whats the real deal with lar-15 mags

I wish RRA would make a extended pistol mag pinned to 10 rounds... Say similar size to a pmag20 or full size GI mag

Please read what we were talking about .. The 50 is not a pistol cartridge (not yet at least ) and is not a pistol magazine

It's a rifle mag, designed to fit 5 rds of the caliber that the particular rifle shoots.. Same deal with 92/96 mags. Designed for 10rds of .40, can feed 13rds of 9 para. As long as the magazine doesn't exceed max capacity for the caliber of the firearm it's marketed for, it's kosher even if it'll feed 50rds of 7.62x39

Thanks guys I can see where the general opinion lies. I do get it, I just wanted to pick you brains. You know what they say when something seems too good to be true. We'll in Canada I guess...

The 50 bw has me a bit concerned .. When you look at the RCMP exceptions it lists handgun cartridges into handgun mags but doesn't say anything about rifles... Maybe that's just thinking that the government is out to screw me

The way the law is worded, a magazine is prohibited only if it holds more than the number of rounds for which it was designed. If the magazine was designed to hold 5 rounds of 50bw, and it only holds 5 rounds of 50bw, then it is unregulated. Unregulated means there are no laws pertaining to the purchase, possession, or use of the magazine. Anyone can buy it, no license required. What you do with it doesn't matter.

There are only two classes for magazines. Prohibited, which almost nobody can possess, or unregulated, which anyone can possess.

There are no laws restricting what a person does with their unregulated magazine. You can shove the wrong kind of ammo in it. You can hang it from a necklace. Whatever you want.

Whoever wrote the gun laws wasn't too bright.
