"The PMag panic" is what my friend in the states says about his whole thing. He went to the store the other day in his home town to see if he could get his muzzle break upgraded. He had a Pmag in his rifle bag, and literally, he said a guy in the store would pay him $40 for it....

What.... The .... :bigHug::bigHug::bigHug::bigHug:.

This is crazy. I just want things to calm down again. I know it's wishful thinking. But I mean come on! Someone out there needs to invest into making a CANADIAN magazine company and build them like crazy. Profits would go through the roof!! Really though, they are just bits or plastic. They are not precision made optics, or fine tolerance actions. It's a polymer mag...

Someone who has mega bucks (we all know your in here somewhere ;) ) start building a business of making a Similar type. Tapco did and their mags are sold out now too lol!

TAPCO!!!!! <

I'm putting $50 as the new price for them nowadays though. It's a sad day for us, and a new yacht for Magpul employees.

Magpul will just move to another country. They have a whole world to sell to. They will not just stop selling them becuase of some dumb bill.

We will just get them somewhere else.

How fast can magpul make Pmags? I would guess they'd be able to crank out at least 1000 a day in a small factory, which would mean that if they're back ordered for 1,000,000 mags, it'll take almost 3 years to fill orders. If they have multiple factories and multiple molds in Erie CO, maybe they can crank out 10,000 a day, meaning a 100 day backlog. 100 days isn't such a big deal.

However, will these back orders even matter if Obama forces a 10 round mag limit on Americans?

wishful thinking but hopefully retailers will only go up a small percentage but for the EE the prices will go through the roof we are already seeing prices of +$50 a mag

I think there will be a difference between retail and private sales. Hopefully Magpul won't jack up prices drastically themselves, which will enable distributors to keep prices vaguely sensible (although I'm sure they will raise them some). The distributors and retailers are free to mark things up as they wish though, even if their cost remains the same, so it's hard to say for sure.

I am sure that Magpul's factories are pumping out as many mags as they can, 24/7 right now on the assumption that if there is a ban, there will be a grandfathering clause.

Even without a grandfathering clause, I don't see them going away. They already have mag limiter products and I would foresee them either selling mags with those pre-installed (if the ban allowed for it) or making a redesigned version of the PMAG (maybe just with a different follower) that conformed to the limit. Or maybe they will redesign the limiter to make it more permanent if the current version doesn't conform to the law. There is no way they'd just give up on the US market, there is too much money at stake.

It's almost 100% certain that the ban is not going to have any effect on Mil/LE mags, so Magpul is not going to stop making regular capacity mags either. You'd just see things go back to the "Military/Law Enforcement Only" markings that we saw during the Clinton ban.

Magpul will catch up with production demand, and the market will be saturated at some point too. What are retailers basing their back orders on, guessed sales? I'm sure plenty of panic buyers have maxed their cards, and couldn't afford much more product anyway, ban or no.

Also some states have had mag limit regs in place for a while, so Magpul just pops in pins as required.

I'd expect to see prices and supply normalize by years end.

Sorry jd..but if these Pmags go north of $100 I'll sell all of mine and use the USGI's or LAR's I have...gotta start saving for the Tavor I plan to buy this year...

Interesting, especially with the greater capacity of LAR-15 mags (though honestly they're pretty crap in comparison).

Yes, odd that everyone wants the pinned 5/30-rounders...

I personally can't see any of the USGI or LAR15's reaching that level.
