Can not decide on what .223rem rifle to buy?

I am totally stuck on the fence. Or corner of a bunch of fences.

I would like to buy a semi auto in .223rem.

I was looking at the kel tec su16f, an AR of equal value, mini-14, or even a t97. Not looking to spend more then $1000.

What do you guys think I should get. They all have plus's and minus's. I am not stuck on res/non-res. If any one has a couple of these rifles or has had any of them chime in. I am interested in peoples experience with these rifles and what there opinions are?

Ok I'll play.

Kel tec- I think they are not very nice rifles. The finishing on them is rough IMHO
AR- ......my friend. You need to be a little more specific lol :) the world is your oyster here. But I would go for this option. ManyANY different configurations you can do with a AR platform and all for reasonable prices. Warning!! ADICTIVE!!
Mini 14- great rifle, not designed for accuracy but people sometimes like to tell themselves that they are. An amazing semi auto and will be a great rifle to use in the non res side of life. You can get them accurate. But it's more money than worth. If accuracy is yor game. Go bolt action of high end AR Long barrel.
T97- no experience with it so can't comment. But anything that looks like a starship troopers gun gets the tick in my box lol.

I would suggest the AR platform. Seriously you have so many options to choose from. If you don't like it. It WILL sell and probably fast. Finding one you like can be hard at the moment. So just keep a eye out :)

Me personally I would wait a bit and see if the new T97 nsr shows up. Failing that grab a norc ar or see what happens with the masterpiece arms gun.
 
Depends on what you are looking to do.
If your looking at it to hunt would go for a non-restricted to mini-14 (dont know anything about the new T97 could be the best thing out of china or could be garbage we will see)
If your looking for something to have some fun at the range an AR is the way to go. There are a kraptonne of things you can do to them.

Head's up, P&D Enterprises has Windham Weaponry WW-15s in stock for 1099. By all accounts a very fine rifle. Or there are a bunch of other options for 1k and change.
Stag and RRA have good options at that price range if I recall correctly.

Nice advice. No need to hunt with it I have several bolt actions in varmit cartridges. Just want a fun so gun. So scratch the su16. Have to look at a mini 14. And have a look at some of the reasonably priced ars out there. I would like to be around 1000 for sure but would be willing yo go a bit more for quality. Might have to wait for the t97. Argh do many options.
 
Is it worth buying a norinco AR? I have an m305 but I have had problems with it since day one, finally after years of playing with it, it works ok.

What recommendations do you guys have for an AR? I know this is the noob question but I am trying to avoid spending piles of money experimenting with a rifle.
 
Norc m4 does what it says on the tin. But I would get a DPMS or a Core-15.

Like I said. AR is like a Pandora's box once opened. So many choices.

I sold off 7 guns at the chas gun show so I could buy an a semi in .223, now having almost decided on going with an AR, I would still like to keep to my budget.

From what I have seen here on cgn, having an AR is more of an addiction then a hobby. Some guys seem to be addicted to building them, I have looked at least 4 or 5 build threads were the gun doesn't even get fired before a new project is started or the rifle is sold.
 
Just to update my own thread, i ended up buying a core15 off of jackolo here on cgn. Just waiting for the cfo approval.

Now I have to decide what optics to mount to it.
 
Good choice. AR beats all the other choices below $2K so if restricted is OK with you then don't waste your time on inferior products. The VZ is a top performer but the AR is nicer to run, has way more aftermarket support and resale is guaranteed.
 
Nice choice of AR. I held one recently and couldn't believe how light it was. Great price, lifetime warranty...

One of the lads at Wanstalls told me one of their customers bought one some time ago and had some trouble with it. When talking to the rep, the guys at Wanstalls were told just to give the customer a brand new rifle altogether. Support for a product doesn't get any better than that.
 
I have 10 lar mags on the way and the rifle comes with a couple of magazines as well. I need to buy some more ammo and save up to buy a progressive press as well. I need to decide on what optics for it, anyone have any recommendations?
