Whats the story on the 9.3X62 in Canada?

Beautiful rifles Ted and 9.3Mauser! I love the idea of the flip sight on the rear base. If only there were a few more bolts on the other side, it would make things a bit easier.

Medvedqc - In regards to your comment about Tikka, are you saying they will produce one if asked nicely? I know that Zastava won't be coming out of your hands any time soon..., if you are parting with any lefties, let me know :)

Tradeex has one for you: http://ww w.tradeexcanada.com/content/zastava-commercial-m98-m70-left-hand-93x62-1

Brand new, and for less than $800 to your door.

Go to their website (tikka.fi) and look if the model you want is in their standard production. If so, then, ask your favourite gun shop to order through Stoeger and if they're willing to order it, you'll get it. But you may have to be patient for delivery as Stoeger usually makes one big order for the year (unless they lately changed their politics). So, expect a year or so for delivery, more if not in stock in Finland or less if you're lucky.
You can also get special orders from Tikka, but you will have to wait for a very, very long lead time (and Stoeger must be willing to take your order).

i've got it's little brother the 9.3x57 in a husqvarna 98 made in the 1930's i believe. beautiful rifle.

CheeseBurger;

There's a NIB T3, left hand, walnut in 9.3 X 62 in Peterborough, ON at Accuracy Plus for $799. I've seen it and as of 5 minutes ago it was still there. Phone: 1-705-740-0063.

The wood is quite good. I was tempted as I shoot from the left side but am happy with mine (Syn black RH) as most of my bolts have been that way!

Thanks for all suggestions. I'm a little hesitant about the Tikka as it might be a bit light for someone that hasn't handled anything heavier than a 12 gauge, but then I'm a bit hesitant to the Zastava as that wood stock doesn't win any beauty awards. What would you guys do, if you were in my shoes?

If it has to be a lefty, I would buy the Zastava, without question. I have seen and handled Phil's, and the beauty of it, firstly, is that it is a genuine left hand action, as well as controlled feed, blued steel, good irons, hinged floor plate with a very positive release that will never dump the cartridges in recoil, and finally the walnut stock is fitted quite well.

Best of all, if you don't like it after using it for a while, you will have no trouble at all selling it. :)

The zastava according to their site is under 8lbs so it's not much heavier than the tikka. I'm not sure what that Mauser costs but it it's a beautiful gun and weights in around 8lbs as well. I have no idea where to get one in Canada. Cz makes a nice looking rifle too.

Just checking them out on the Tradex site... $695 for right hand, 750 for a lefty.

Ted, with your championing of the 9.3x62, I don't think selling anything chambered in that cartridge is going to be hard to sell! You guys pretty much have me sold on the Zastava, despite the homely wood on this particular one. Some of the others are very nice. Ah well, you can't win them all.

Buy the Zastava. It's a Mauser. Nuff said. A buddy bought a LH Zastava 375 H&H that is stupid accurate out of the box.

I can't help myself, here's a shot of mine. It's a Brazilian M1908(Oberndorf 98). I kept the stripper clip notch and receiver bridge hump so as to preserve some of the Mauser panache. King 21" barrel and black walnut classic stock. Scoped it weighs 8 lbs. it's currently with Bill Leeper getting it's floor-plate hinged.

Since the picture was taken, I shortened the forend and reshaped the tip to a Rigby style.

CheeseBurger, there is an easy answer to the homely wood. PM inbound.
