Anybody here remember these from their army days back in the 60s, What the heck did the Canadian Gov. do with all of them. Never seen any for sale. The C1' s were the semi-auto, The C2s were the full auto
 
They kept supposedly a 1,000 pieces for allocation to Museum, but the rest of the C-1, C-2 and SMG's were melted down. None were kept as War Reseve stock.

how much can it possibly cost to fill up steel drums with rifles and fill it with cosmoline? even if you throw out half of em when the time comes to use em, they are bought and paid for

Money was no object. In fact, they paid good money to have them reduced to slag in order to keep them out of the hands of us, the untrustworthy Canadian public.
 
the C1's weren't Belgian they were made here at C.A.L just off dixie and lakeshore ....only the design was Belgian with quite a few design improvements done here with canadian british and U.S. imput ...i still have a C1A1 sitting in the basement safe but the only reason i was able to get one was they were shipped to england and brought back as surplus by Ross williams in the mid 80's he brought back around 1200 units as surplus ..all Ex OPP ..what a field day going to his warehouse and picking through them all ...awesome ..i picked up a consecutive pair and a single for a shooter ..i sold the pair off a while ago but kept the single ..i climbed all over the Pink sherman tank he had in there as well ....ahhh the good old days
 
there were rows and rows of them pretty sure it was more then 300 ill ask Ross next time i see him

if you mean the one at Borden no i did get to see all the cut aways and a few other non Fn items that were awesome ...the tank was the best
 
i had a C2A1 and a C1 stirling as well but i sold them to another gunnut ...i dont have any pics which sucks
