Russian Capture German K98's

More are going on tonight and a large batch is going out tomorrow.

Going forward I'll be shipping them in a soft case as well.

as i saw on the web site, most of have the marking remove.....it'S bad...

Actually most have the markings still there. Some have the swastika peened but the rest of the eagle is still there. I have another 30 done up to go on the website tonight.

Most of us when collecting milsurps want accurate representations of the period. For me, an ideal RC K98 would be an earlier one, 1939, 1940 or 41, cupped buttplate, bent bolt. Many of us are code hunters as well, 660 BSW or BNZ would be sweet. Markings, well, they'd be nice but not that important to me. As soon as I find one like that, I'm taking a run at it.
BTW, has anyone come across a 1945 dated RC yet? Not sure if Mother Russia paid for transportation back home for the 45 dated ones.

It's here!

Despite the storm we're having here in Portage, I managed to retrieve my new rifle from the post office today!

First off, thanks SFRC for getting these. It's been a long 6 months waiting for something to show up on the K98 side. I'm not sure how many are left but I can't imagine they'll last too long. Also, thanks for the free soft case!

I'm no milsurp specialists but the rifle is marked 'bnz 42' and the action/stock are marked '9198'. My google-foo tells me this is one of the first rifles to be produced in 1942 from the Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG, Steyr Factory. This thing is chalked full of original Waffenamts too which I am very excited about. I'll be doing the history lesson after I finish writing this but if you can help me nail down some markings that would be cool too.

"Brothers". Both are manufactured in 1942 (71 years old). The Garand (also mismatching) made in June.

Cannot wait to take it out shooting! I'm overjoyed with this find, thanks again SFRC! Let us know when the PPU 8mm Mauser stuff comes in.

Glad you like it.

Except for a few at the beginning, they all shipped in soft cases. At this time I plan on shipping all future ones in a soft case.

I'm putting more on the website right now.
